Shout-out to Sheldon Dries. Guy went from an AHL player to a 10 goal season in NHL. That takes hard work.

It’s amazing watching guys like him, and to a greater extent, Joshua and Aman, and seeing these contributions coming from guys at very respectable cap hits. Very economic players for their roles.

And have to feel good for Dries. Definitely earned his way up. Not a perfect player and likely not a guy who will be here long term, but have to feel good for him.

It's bye, bye Bedard......AT this point, the Canucks might drop out of the top-10 in the draft altogether. Beginning to think there's a good chance Kuzmenko hits 40 and there's reason to believe he could be even better next year.

I guess we have to give the current regime the benefit of the doubt--that somehow this level of play will be sustainable into next season. Because winning meaningless games down the stretch and torpedoing their draft position has become the staple for this franchise.

They really aren't close to being a cup contender though. This is all well and good, again, but we know how this story goes.
You (and many others) should pause your “fandom” until we’re close to being a cup contender.

It’s actually hilariously annoying hearing the same “fans” complain an eternity… “BUT WE’RE NOT A CUP CONTENDER”.

It takes time and process to build a cup contender - it doesn’t just happen overnight.

Honestly just sick of you bandwagon fans with this toxic ass mentality.

If you hate this team so bad (and many others), why are you even following!? Go do something productive with your time.

Like how much of a loser you gotta be IRL if you spend all your time complaining about a hockey team on a damn hockey forum that you’re supposed to be a “fan” of.

Sick of your guys’ toxic shit.

Much as Boudreau was a fun and decent guy, this team is looking a lot better under Tocchet. Team is doing a lot og big and little things better. These include the way they pop over the boards on line changes, the way they play along the boards, the way they defend and most of all how they play from the inside out. I think, in the end, you win in this League with superior players (and that's were the draft is key) but having the coaching is huge step towards being competitive.

Good

Miller - never thought Miller would play center as well as he is. Key player in this game and making his salary look fine.

Demko - thought he was doing more than he had to, late in the game. Better when he just sits back and plays his angles. Still had another good game. Clear now, if wasn't already abundantly clear, that goal-tending was main failing this season.

Wolanin - pleased get him signed. Price is only going up. Has excellent mobility and is high end passer. Looks like the player people thought he would be when he first joined the Sens just out of college.

Myers - got caught on the one rush but overall was good in his match up against Tkachuk. Playing a defensive style he has to play to be successful and spending less time overhandling the puck. Gets it, moves it. Helps to have players in position to take a pass.

Aman - showed some cleverness with the puck. Seems to have some offensive upside. Certainly has the wheels to get him in a position to make a play.

Joshua - question now is can he grow his game at the NHL level. I think he has established that he is a legit NHL player.

Hughes - another awesome game. One of the best players in the League.

Garland - was creating things through his efforts. Helped established some good o-zone time with his checking.

DiGuiseppe - plays the Tocchet system so well. In position all the time both ways and making a lots of good little plays along the boards. Complimenting Miller very well. Use to be DiGuiseppe seemed to be mostly looking for offense. Coaching in Abby and now with Tochett has turned him into a solid checker. Lots of players survive in the NHL for along time playing that role.

Bad

Boeser - yes he made the unselfish pass at the end of the game but overall always chasing the play. Big doubts he can play the game at the pace Tocchet wants. Interesting comments from Tocchet about Boeser's off season training. Sounds like Tocchet wants to be in the gym with Boeser this off season. That might be a very interesting and trying experience for puffy Brock.

Others

Juulsen - lots made here of Woalanin but Juulsen has been very solid in the time he gets. Another who seems close to NHL material. The signing of lot of these fringe NHLers to reinforce Abby looks like it might end up providing some very serviceable NHLer to the Canucks. We'll see.

Pettersson - didn't think it was his best game. Wasn't bad but timing seemed off on some of his rushes and on his passing and shooting on the PP. Believe it was Miller and the foot soldiers that were most important in this game.

Kravtsov and Podkolzin seem still players under construction by Tocchet. Still need to learn the NHL game.

Beauvillier - had so many chances. Needs to do a better job of converting them. However, at least, he is getting them

The ONLY upside to us pissing away draft odds is the market value of Miller and Boeser has gone up

We need to get them both moved in the summer

You are welcome to leave as well if this forums makes you so sick

Kind of going against your own argument bud

F’n amen

People will literally whine and complain all day if we’re not a cup contender. So pathetic.
Over 50 years of not winning one tends be be an issue

But hey, can always feel good about participation medals and meaningless wins once our fate is sealed

I’m on a hockey form to discuss hockey.

Whining about the team daily from the same folks is not hockey discussion lol.

Boeser yes but not sure why anyone would have the notion this management group is going trade Miller now, especially when he will now have a NMC.

What happened during Benning’s time has NOTHING to do with now. The constant schtick of saying we’ve been sucking for 10 years lacks insight and critical thought. It’s ok to be optimistic with completely new management and new coaching.

What your doing wrong is this false equivalency between the past and now. What happened during Benning’s tenure has NOTHING to do with now and is NOT a useful indicator/predictor of the future.

Don’t let your PTSD hit you on the way out.

There is nothing worse than complaining about complainers imo. We are all at different ages and frustration levels on here.

Nah.

This fanbase is probably a top 5 toxic fanbase. Complaining about the toxic community is absolutely legitimate.

I mean we had a whole damn riot.

Canucks twitter is also notoriously known to be toxic.

This - every comment in this thread should finish with ...against the Sens.

Really glad to see a team win though. Keep it up forever!
Wait a sec. I thought the Sens were a young team on the rise, already way ahead of the Canucks.

But yeah, people shouldn’t read too much into late season win streaks by a team that is out of the playoffs.

They'll be much closer to a wildcard spot - but they aren't close to cup contention with those two added imo.

I may have re-started drinking the Kool aid. There is a small chance we end up with Bedard and Livingston this offseason.

We may be contenders in that scenario if everything else goes right.

I find this so rediculous. We are like everyone else.

Yes, we had a riot, it was cleaned up by 10 am the next day. I lived downtown, went to the game had lunch on a patio in the "riot zone" the next day. The playoff run was a lot of fun.

People need to stop making such a big deal about stupid stuff and just enjoy things when they're good.

Using terms like "toxic" to refer to fandom of a hockey team people choose to cheer for is rediculous.
