Told my wife I might be able to get two free tickets for tonight.

Hah! Most of our income goes into a joint account, but we each get a set amount transferred to individual accounts each month which we can spend on whatever we want. I'm paying for tonight's tickets with my account

They were putting games and dates on the towels in 19, dropped it in 21 (none in the bubble, obv). Don't remember what they were doing in 2009, but I think there's still one of those deep in my hockey bag if nobody else can dig one up more easily. I think that 2019 was the exception, but not dating them is the rule. I suspect it's absolutely because that issue- if, say, you sweep the Isles, you don't have to redo the design for the game 6 towels, and you don't have to incur the extra cost of printing them last minute. I do like seeing them change the towel design each game.
And you know what? I have a 2006 SCF towel around somewhere, and they didn't even change those game to game, let alone put specific dates on there. As the old towel says, whatever it takes.

Also, for those dying to know, I checked my 2009 towel and it did have the series and game on it. Comparing to some other teams, the Caps 2019 towel just says 2019 playoffs, and the Washington Nationals one, also from 2019, has no game or even year info. Also, the Canes have used impressively consistent shitty fabric since 2006. The Caps fabric is a little denser, but similarly rough, while the Nats one is about as dense as the Caps one but significantly softer.

Pro tip:
- Make friends with a guy who owns a dry cleaner
- Make a monthly habit of taking your suits for tailoring and dry cleaning. Pay by card so there’s a clear bank record.
- Have guy buy your playoff tickets for you
- You never even wore the suits, and they were never washed
