it's hard to say because half of team scandinavia will try to win, while the other half tries to lose :sarcasm:

on a side not, Czechoslovakia was never part of the USSR. ;)

  3. and how is Koivu not on team Scandinavia?

Fine I'll revise to Team Warsaw Pact

As for Koivu well I didn't change monster_bertuzzi's list at all but Henrik Sedin is outplaying him this year and there are so many other difficult cases like Malkin vs. Yashin

    Well, its definitely not Canada.
Warsaw Pact, when it feels like playing. Scandinavians, otherwise..

Also a coach breaking up Lehtinen-Koivu-Selanne
would not be considered very professional.
Peltonen-O.Jokinen-T.Ruutu was playing well in the
World Cup, so they should play as a line.

Teppo is missing from the defense, and choosing
Lundqvist over Lehtonen (or even Nitty) is daring.

I'd say two lines from SWE, another two from FIN,
4 D from SWE, 3 D from FIN and both the goalies
    from FIN.

We sure don't agree about much Caz. Not picking Lundqvist? Lundqvist is the hottest European goalie in NHL right now. Although Kiprusoff has more wins, he also has more starts. The least team-biased goalie stat is save percentage (which also to some extent is formed by the defense in front of the goalie) is in favour of Lundqvist.

As for the teams, I would root for Team Scandinavia of course, with the Eastern team as a close second.

Scandinavia? Why are there Finnish players in Team Scandinavia? We're not part of Scandinavia. Put some Norwegian player there or rename it Team Nordic. :teach:

Well, I thought as this series would be played as a tournament,
we could compare Nitty's and Lunkan's percentages in a tournament.
Nitty takes a pretty clear win, at least up to now. Kipper's last
tournament was World Cup, and he was pretty ok too. So I'd choose
    both ahead of Lunkan.

dude you have been hating on sweden all the time. Lundqvist has outplayed Niiytmäki in NHL this season, and that's fact. NHL is where it really matters, and where the awards are handed out.

Wouldn't Canada get the USA on their team too, making it a NA team?

Realistically, a team North America might be entirely Canadian...with the possible additions of Tkachuk or Rolston

I had thought to make it a Team North America but when I looked at their team I thought the exact same thing.

    Hating Sweden?
    Give me a break.

    Criticising, yes.
    Hating, not at all.

In the comment you quoted, I just gave
an explanation why I think the way I think
    about Nitty and Lunkan.

If the header of the thread says what it says,
I thought personal opinions backed up with
    some explanations would be ok.

And I explained that in my opinion Nitty has
outplayed Lunkan in tournament play, statistics
prove me right and Kipper played a relatively
    good tournament in World Cup.

    What more should I say?

    Team Pangaea vs Team Rodinia.

Messier could be the Captain of Pangaea.

Czechoslovakia was actually a soviet satellite state. If I remember correctly, Jagr wears #68 because his grandfather died in the failed Czech revolution and subsequent red army occupation of 1968.
