The Islanders have finished ahead of Winnipeg in 4 of the past 5 seasons, making the playoffs 3 times and getting to the second round once.

That's cute, "4 of the last 5 years". How about "Neither the Jets nor the Islanders made the playoffs last year.

Anyone looking objectively at either of the two teams can see that the Jets are a better team now with a much brighter future. The Islanders would have to become very active in the next while to make a case against that statement.

Calvin de Haan will not be traded unless the Islanders are way out of it... and even then, someone will offer more than a middling 2nd rounder for him.

You're probably right - he'll ride out this season to UFA and sign somewhere with a hope.

I really like Calvin de Haan and I realize he's headed for UFA status this next year BUT do you think he's worth a gamble and get him before the season opens up then try and sign him?

Your thoughts?

Two words: Oh, YA!

We can't afford DeHann with all of the other contracts we will need to sign. Good player but it makes very little sense to go out and get him.
