Ivan Ryabkin played for Moskva in the Russian Districts tourny’s at 14 and 15 and was among the top scorers in both tournaments. ObviouslyI can only reciprocate what I read on EP but seems promising nonetheless. If anyone can provide any further information, please do

4+9 after 5 games at the Federal Districts Cup for U16 kids.

Demidov was 4+15 in 7 games at the same tournament, but he was 8 months younger. Michkov was 23+12 in 8 games...

I had heard/read as early as 18 months ago that the 2006 and 2007 crops in Russia were down years compared to 2003-2005. With 2008 looking really strong very early.

We will see how it goes but this far it seems a reasonable take. So it would make sense that Ryabkin may be a strong prospect within the 07’s but not even close to comparable to the top guys preceding him.

Nobody comes even close to Michkov, like ever. As to Demidov, Ryabkin isn't that far from. Of course if you don't count the age difference, because 8 months is a lot.

So, 7+10 after 7 games at the Federal Districts Cup U16. With 3+1 in the tournament Final and his team won the Cup. I think he might be one of the best prospects for 2025 Draft.

Omaha picked his teammate Limatov with the very next pick so likely hoping it is a package deal. I imagine settling at that age in a foreign country would be easier with your friend with you.

There have been some successful Russian players in the USHL over the years - Afanaseyev, Firstov, Guschin, Kuznetsov all went on to be relatively high NHL picks, Merkulov is a good upside guy with the Bruins and of course Svechnikov.

Gridin came over with a fairly lofty reputation last year though and wasn’t terribly amazing though still very young. Chaly could be a late round draft pick this year. A few other guys but Russian presence in the league is down from a high of 16 in the 18-19 season to really only 4 full-time guys last year.

It is interesting to note also that Russians, more than any other nationalities that come to the USHL - often use the USHL as springboard to the CHL and not the NCAA. Feels like it’s about half and half. Feel like most of the Finns, Czechs, Slovaks etc go to the NCAA after their time in the USHL. Although I’m not sure what the policy is right now with the CHL and Russians?

Anyways - real curious to see if the two Russians or some of the big names Czech/Slovaks eventually come over - Adam Nemec, Jan Chovan, Tomas Chrenko, Michal Svrcek are some of the biggest names in their age group and also got drafted this evening.

4+1 in the first game of Russia's U16 clubs final tournament (the best of the best from all regional U16 leagues) vs Magnitogorsk. Here is the game, Ryabkin is #11. Hope it's not geoblocked. Given Magnitogorsk holds the tournament this season, Ryabkin and his team basically beat the hosts.

Ryabkin was very inpressive. First goal was a onetimer on PP, the 2nd one was another onetimer on PP. Then it was a great pass from behind the nets on a linemate, then great shot after solo skating from his zone to the opponents, and then coldblooded shot when he got the puck right in front of the goalie.

So he skates great, stickhandles great, shoots great and even can pass. If he keeps developing like this 2025 draft will be another NA great prospects vs Russian great ones. Bedard vs Michkov in 2023, Celebrini and Eiserman vs Demidov in 2024, and that another Canadian maybe-probably-generational kid (Misa?) vs Ryabkin in 2025.

Canadian-American-Russian trios…
2024: Celebrini, Eiserman, Demidov
2025: Misa, Hagens, Ryabkin

So early who knows but pretty encouraging to hear that Ryabkin is the real deal.

My sense is Russia is really improving after some lean years. That Sochi Olympic roster looks pretty brutal looking back outside of the headline names.

7 + 10 after 4 games. Pretty close to Michkov point wise but way less goals than Matvei used to score on this level. Still, if he keeps developing this way NHL scouts will love him. Isn't small, great skater and shooter, and can pass too. Stylistically reminds Demidov.

1+1 in the final game vs SKA, Ryabkin's team won it 3-2 and became Russian U16 champion. And Ryabkin won the scoring title with 10+15 in 7 games. The next best scorer was Ryabkin's linemate Melikov with 10+10.

The final game.

If anyone is interested in looking at Russian players for the 2025 Draft.

Sirius Cup U17 starts. Russia U17 plays today with Moscow U17. Ivan Ryabkin plays in the Russia team, as well as Pyotr Andreyanov, Vyacheslav Vasilyev, Kurban Limatov, Daniil Skvortsov, Yegor Murashev, Arseny Ilyin (2026 Draft), etc. Bogdan Khaidarov plays in the Moscow team.

This is very interesting. Development aside, with how the country of Russia is right now maybe it is what is best for him to make it to the NHL.

This news also says that Dynamo is preventing him from leaving for NA and wants the player to start the season in the MHL. It is not yet known how this situation will be resolved.

It's best for him to stay in Russia to continue his development, if he wants to reach his potential. This has been documented through so many years and examples.
