I viewed it as Hall retained for a first. Then we trade our second and mtl third for Drouin.

I haven't watched Drouin or the North a ton this year but the optics are not terrible.

I suggested something involving these two players the other day. If Buffalo wants a capable player with term I don't think you add anything of note. To get Buffalo to retain for the rest of the year, I think you're looking at a 4th. Seems to be the going rate. If Montreal wanted to bring in a broker team to eat more salary, then they'd get a 4th.

Buffalo is trading high 2nd and 3rd rounders to absorb another bad negative value contract. And retaining on Hall? Sheesh.

Add in Okposo to make this trade make some semblance of sense.

Look at what Hall got NJ when he was coming off a 90+ pts season... now he's doing jack shit in Buffalo. Drouin with max retention is under 3M, he's a 50+pts winger that's clearly good value and an asset with decent value.
