When Bubsy 3D was released on the PS1 21 years ago, the worst game of all time nominee was thought to killed off the bobcat. Looks like the character was put in a long coma, for behold:

yeah the trailer looked horrible, even with the constant cuts you could tell it was incredibly clunky, seeing the final game it looks like one of those steam asset flip games.

I never hated the original SNES/Genesis game. It wasn't great, its controls were kind of kludgy, and it was difficult (in part because of the kludgy controls) but it wasn't awful as far as mascot platformers go.

Bubsy 3D was an unadulterated dumpster fire though.

Same here. I really liked it. It felt like a slowed down, smarter Sonic. Very colorful, very fun.

The thing I liked about the SNES/Genesis Bubsy was that it felt like a cartoon that you played. It had a lot of personality. Lots of quips and soundbites, deaths were different depending on how you died and would be a very looney-tunes type of thing. Like you hit spikes and you would pop a hole and then fly around and deflate like a balloon.
