The bruins prospects as a whole do not really excite me and I can't understand why some might think our future looks promising. .
They have some good prospects at the D position and maybe one which might be Elite
They have 0 elite prospects at the forward position and no I'm not excited the least bit of Gabrielle... lucky if he makes the bruins 4 th line one day. . (And that's not saying much)
Senyshyn dOes excite me but surely not an elite forward prospect would since he is not
An elite prospect and neither is Debrusk

If it helps, think of Pastrnak as an elite forward prospect. He's young enough to be a sophomore in college.

Fwiw, it usually takes finishing dead last in your conference to pick up truly elite prospects. Otherwise, you draft the guys you like and you hope you get lucky and find a Bergeron/Krejci/Marchand/Pastrnak outside the top5.

The sheer number of quality prospects is encouraging. Some of them won't work out, but some will work out better than you'd expect.

See above... odds are, someone will work out better than you think.

"Elite" prospects are overrated.

Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci, Lucic... none of them were ever considered "elite" prospects right up until the time when they stepped foot in the NHL.

Once upon a time, Wes Walz scored roughly 140 points in about 50 games in Lethbridge. Everyone thought he was a star in the making.

I was young and naive when Walz was up and coming. He scored 104 points in his draft year and still fell to Boston in the 3rd round, turns out that well the fans may have been gaga over him, they league knew he was a pretty limited guy

Awesome to see Barzal and Chabot as stars tonight.

Not saying that they will be amazing in the future but so far better then the Bruins prospects.

Funny how you completely ignore the two B's picks on Team USA that have been outstanding. Were they not drafted on Sweeney's watch? Carlo?

People see what they want to see.

You mean like Seguin :sarcasm: Bruims franchise does deserve this bad run.Sorry being honest. They cannot stand prospering.Always a dummy in organization who ruins it.

They have been ok.USA top 3 player awards.McAvoy was not 1.Will admit though he logs 25 mins a game.Closest guy 6 mins less on that team. But not standing out as elite but solid.I think he gets better though and fits into Bruins in long run a shade better then Krug.My girlfriend calls him THE CHUNKY MONKEY LOL

I believe Brazal has two points at even strength during the tournament, players are picked by team staff, should have been Gaithier over Barzal for sure. Chabot game won't translate well to the pro level, which he has already shown. He will require some work to make the adjustment.

Don't know if he's ever going to be NHL star, but I sure would like someone on the Bruins who could score on the power play. It's a fair point that generally 5v5 production is more indicative of overall talent, but in the end a PP goal counts as much as a goal on even strength.

McAvoy was, I think, really good in a big role. Did some "meh" pay here and there, but I sincerly don't remember having ever seen a top defensemen not doing some at this tournament. The only thing that "boter" me a bit is at time he seems to "freeze" when the pass option he tought he had disapeer in the same time as his space, just standing there with the puck not moving waiting for I don't know what to happen then loosing it and creating a turnover. To me he is defenetly our best prospect and the one with the highest upside. Could really developp into a 1st pairing 35-40 pts puck mover.

Lindgren was also really good in a limited role. He kinda remind me of a less offensive Ference. Small but, hard worker, good skater, good puck rusher, just a little bite less vision/creativity than Ference as of now.

Carlo is also really good ...

Barzal and Chabot were also really good, Chabot even more than that, anyone could have seen this, even Bruins fans, but that comment should have been write in the 2015 draft or wjc thread, not in the Bruins prospects one.

I can appreciate that it's tempting to delve into our collective imagination and picture a Chabot and McAvoy pairing on the Bruins. But let's not torture ourselves ad infinitum.

McAvoy was absolutely outstanding yesterday.

I thought people were crazy expecting a 1 and done with college but it's possible ...

Not a long list of guys who were talked outta college for the AHL though and not sure I'd "garantee" him a spot if I were management. Will be an interesting spring in Providence. Gabrielle/Bjork/McAvoy/Lauzon/JFK although all 5 play on top teams and that might save management from making decisions.

Oh forgot Senyshyn...

Barzal has been a PP specialist pretty much this whole tournament....2 even strength points, very impressive

If a couple NHL leading 20 year olds in Pastrnak and Carlo don't count in his definition of prospects I don't think you can use Seguin as an example.

Though I agree they dropped the ball on that one. Big time.

Agreed Rumpy, he was a monster. Must have played every other shift.

Consistently made breakout pass after breakout pass to get the team out of their end and moving up ice. Long strikes, short backhands to the middle when the walls were taken away... He threw the three biggest hits of the game. He was on the ice for two of the American's 3 goals. Ran their PP at the top of the umbrella. Is their first PK'er...

But the OT is where he really took over. I think he had 4 rushes up the ice in OT that nearly ended it for the US, including one where he went 1on3 and fell as he was shooting. The OT McAvoy is more like the player that started the season. This more controlled version is what Quinn wants from him and I'm not sure I love it as much as underpants on fire McAvoy but it's probably better suited to the NHL.

He's not perfect but he's been damn impressive. Reminds me a little of John Carlson in 2010.

I have not been as impressed with either Chabot or Barzal as some here.

McAvoy has been >>> Chabot and was drafted a year later. Lindgren has not played the minutes that McAvoy or Chabot have, but look at the times he has been on the ice. On 5 on 3's, in the last couple minutes protecting a lead...key minutes.

Also, I don't see the Lindgren/Ference comparison at all. Ference was 5'11" and 185 pounds as a grown man. Lindgren is 6' (seems a bit generous) and nearly 200 pounds at the age of 18. He appears to have a bit of a mean streak (like Ference), but other that, I don't see too many similarities.

I think he's going to surprise some people, unlike McAvoy, who appears to have stud D written all over him.

Just to add to your first coment, I'm not seeing much from Strome this tournament. I don't normally watch junior games, but he should be dominating this tournament but he seems to be a perimeter player. I won't rate his future on one tournament, but I'm just not seeing much from him besides some good hands and a good shot.

Barzal doesn't like to pass the puck a whole lot. That might work in Junior but won't work when he gets to the NHL.

I do like Chabot's game though. He would be nice to have with McAvoy

Pastr I agree has elite talent. .. looks like a very good pick however he's played 130 nhl games and can no longer be considered a prospect. Carlo aside, .I was referring to the young draft picks that have not played a game yet in the Nhl.
Very true that usually the best way to get elite players

Very true that usually the best way to get elite players is to finish last or close to last yet Detroit has drafted the likes of Zetterberg, Datsyuk,
Lindstrom far from last. .
