I know people are shitting on this because Lucic sucks now, but the Bruins are going to have a massive dropoff in talent in 23-24, plus the fans were just basically punched in the face with the lesson that the regular season doesn't matter one bit. So there's very little excitement over the upcoming season. They need to draw an audience to the arena and eyes on the TV. So why not just give the fanbase something to feel good about and give us a little excitement over a nostalgia bump and let Looch suit up in #17 again and play on the 4th line and maybe get in a few fights. Not like his presence would be blocking any prospect development or really harm their chances.

People underestimate how much Boston fans love Lucic.

Love this move for Lucic. He's still got lots to offer in a bottom six role, and he's clearly only continuing to play because he loves hockey. Great way for Lucic to put a book end on his career. The fans and Bruins players are going to love him. He was a big fan favorite in Calgary, despite the fact he was horribly overpaid, due to his bad contract, and overused by Sutter, due to Sutter's insanity.
