4 more years of Steener.

Dougie strikes again! Really makes you wonder what Lehtera put in his drink when they discussed his deal

I'm not sure I could have hoped for better. A repeat of his current deal (3 x $5.8M) would have been fine, but giving him the extra year at the same price seems like a no-brainer.

Steen has been improving each of the past 3 years. He can play in both a shutdown and offensive role, in any situation and is quite clearly a leader on the team.
I love it, love the term, the AAV, I love it all!

That's not bad at all. Hopefully Steener doesn't decline too quickly. His game doesn't seem like it will.

Really happy about this. The cap hit decreasing with age is a nice plus as well.

Love it. One more year than I would ideally want, but I don't have a huge issue with it. The AAV is completely fair and I'm not worried about a heavy decline from Steener. Fantastic news.

Good deal.

Telling that we were comfortable paying Steen $5.75m until he turns 37, and not have Backes at $6m for the same years. Or close to $6m according to Backes.
