Jays slid hard

he had to go
Last year they would have made the playoffs with a better Manager. His bad moves cost them at least 10 games. This season is not on him. The relief pitching staff is a pile of crap. Starters should be taken out earlier but there is NO reliable middle relief. And he is not responsible for the hitters being crap unless he is determining their approach at the plate. The 2 headed monster should be fired if they don't add some pitchers by the trade deadline.

Now Craig Counsell is a far worse manager and soehow he is syill around.

Buster showing how little Jays baseball he watches. I could write a book on the horror show that Charlie has led. That they are near the playoffs at all shows just how good this roster is.

Sparky Anderson used to say that you will win a third and lose a third of your games no matter who the manager is. The difference will be made in the other 3rd and this Manager was costing us games regularly with the following:

Poor batting order decisions, poor bullpen usage, poor starting pitcher usage (think back to playoffs 2020 and then a number of times this year where he would pull a starter despite having very very little in the pen)being mr clown around and hug everyone guy, while publicly criticizing Kikuchi (his whipping boy). Poor baserunning which included sending runners home and also the lack of hustle on the basepaths. Terrible challenges, poor defense and even equipment issues which should never ever happen. Dan Shulman criticized him for his use of pinch hitters which was totally justified... Dan doesn't say much negative but even he couldn't workout what was happening.

The Jays had many shitty rosters and less than great managers over the years but Montoya ranks up there with the worst to ever don the Blue and White.

For those of us watching day in and day out he simply had to go.

Honestly surprised he made it as far as he did......and I'm still convinced the chief reason behind him lasting this long was his ability to converse with the Jays' spanish-speaking core.
