Blaz Gregorc's listed at 6'5 187lbs and is 4th in league scoring by a defensemen in his age group (17 and under. Has 2G and 3A in 12GP).

He's a 2008 Draft eligible Slovenian playing Defense in Sweden's J20 league for Södertälje. I was wondering if anyone has seen him play and if he seems like a player that might be drafted?


It's also interesting to note there's a few other Slovenians in the Swedish U20 league, but Gregorc's one of the highest scoring amoung them and definatly the youngest as far as I can tell (the rest went undrafted).

He is pretty good. I consider him to be nr 3 or 4th d-man on the team though. Good skating.. very good technique and puckcontroll and decent passing game. Nice size, although he seems rather thin. Södertälje knows how to pick the slovenians (Kopitar)

Gasper Kopitar was born in 1992, so that's the 2010 Draft ?

He played in Slovenia's DP Kadeti (U16 or Junior League?) during the 2006/2007 season for Jesenice, scoring 18G, 22A, 40P in 26GP. As far as I can tell he was 6th in scoring for players in his Draft year, and was quite aways from the top of the league in scoring when including 91-born 2009 Draft eligible players as well.

I can't find Anze's 01/02 stats at 14 years old to compare, but I can't imagine that he was outscored by anyone in his age group.

Either way Gasper seems to have moved to America to further his hockey career because he's now on the roster for LA's U16AAA Junior Kings. The only information I've ever read about him as a player is that he needs to work on his skating and that he is bigger than Anze was at the same age (at 14 years old, according to Anze).

Interesting, I wonder which route Gasper will take if he ends up being a quality prospect. USHL to NCAA, or WHL/OHL/QMJHL ?
