I'm just curious. Was the term "blankets" back in the day slang for sweaters? The reason I'm asking is because I was reading this quote from Holzman's book and it talks about how Charles Querrie (owner of the St.Pats) "dyed the old red blankets of the club a vivid green"
This was before the 1926/27 season and he did indeed change the uniforms for that year.
Is it possible that the St.Pats actually had red sweaters and Querrie changed them to green for this (their final) season? Or does the term blankets mean something else?
I would assume it meant the sweaters since both were made out of wool at the time.
