35 years can sure make a difference in the result of a series between two countries. In 1972, the Canada-Russia series was more evenly matched. In 2007, Team Canada dominated the series and was led by the oustanding play of Sam Gagner. Gagner, who was drafted by the Blackhawks (Oilers in the NHL) 6th overall in this years draft, scored 6 goals and led all scorers with 15 points and was named the tounraments Most Valuable Player. He was electrifying everytime he touched the puck and played spectacular at both ends of the ice.

Jonathan Bernier, the Hawks 1st round pick in 2006 (drafted by the Kings in NHL) was solid if not spectacular at times. While he did let in one weak goal when he went done a little too early rather than stand his ground in net, he made several saves that were of the highlight variety and played the second most minutes on the team, had the lowest G.A.A and the teams only SO of the series.

Both players are expected to attend training camp this year but still have junior eligibility and are likely to be returned to their respective junior teams and play again for Canada at the WJC's later this year.
