Using the Tampa Bay 2024 1st rd pick (currently #20) and 3 2nd rd picks ( currently 34, 54, 65) how high could Blackhawks potentially get to?
I think 2 of the 2nds could get you into the 14-15 range if the team that has that pick isn't supper keen on the players available. Bit getting from 14 to the top 10 is difficult.

2 of those 2nds are near 3rd round picks, currently. The early 2nd obviously holds the most value of them. I'm not sure the other 2 seconds are worth it for a team to trade down that far. I agree that a more realistic approach is moving up 4-6 spots. But then is it worth it?

I don't think that gets you into the top 10. Beyond pick value, I don't think there are any teams in the top 10 that want quantity over quality of picks. I'd be surprised if any lottery team would want to do that unless their draft board goes a certain way.

here is the thing. Unlike previous drafts, after the top 5 there is a drop off and after that most players are being call prospects. Unless the hawks move into the top 5 with a 2nd top 5 pick, I would keep the assets or move them for immediate help today then in the future

Was going to say the same thing. The only reason to give up that many rolls of the dice is to get a sure thing, not a slightly better single roll.

Im sure they could convince teams like the Blue Jackets, Sens, and Pens to swap pics. They certainly have enough prospects/pics to make it happen.

Probably not as high as you'd think. Trading down for multiple picks makes more sense in the NFL than it does for the NHL. NHL teams will generally only trade down (in the first round) if they think they can safely move down and still land their intended target. So usually you don't see teams move down more than a handful of slots.

One possible horror story was Anaheim in 2008. They had emptied out their farm system in winning the Cup in 2007, so they thought they had an opportunity to restock their prospect cupboard. They had pick #12 and apparently really liked Erik Karlsson. They thought they could trade down and still land Karlsson.

They traded #12 for #17 and #28. Then later traded #28 for #35 and #39. According to most draft pick value charts, Anaheim knocked it out of the park. But Ottawa traded up from #18 to snipe Karlsson at #15.

Anaheim's opportunity cost of Karlsson netted them Jake Gardiner, Nicolas Deschamps, and Eric O'Dell. Something like that might be why most teams would rather stay put rather than risk it for garden variety 2nd rounders.

Post-lockout examples:

2006: Montreal traded #16 to San Jose for #20 and #53.

2007: Anaheim traded #16 to Minnesota for #19 and #42.

2008: Nashville traded #15 to Ottawa for #18 and #70

2009: Minnesota traded #12 to NY Islanders for #16, #77, and #181

2010: Florida traded #15 to Los Angeles for #19 and #59

2012: Calgary traded #14 to Buffalo for #21 and #42 -- rough draft and Calgary was targeting Mark Jankowski

2013: Detroit traded #18 to San Jose for #20 and #58

2021: Dallas traded #15 to Detroit for #23, #48, and #138. Edmonton traded #20 to Minnesota for #22 and #90. -- In both cases Dallas/Edmonton got their intended targets.

This draft sounds like it is top heavy and then it gets murky so will be pretty tough to get into the top 10

Win the lottery and trade down to 5 and then with the return and the TB pick, trade up to 9. There you go. 2 top 10 picks.

Seems like waste of resources to try and move up at best 5-6 spots

Rather just keep 2nd's to continue to stock pipeline or see if you can trade one or two to upgrade NHL roster

NHL is very much different than nfl. Be a no brainer for most nfl teams to drop back and take 20 and 2 of those 2nds.

NHL, hit rate is lower than nfl with second rounders.

It’s not a deep draft from the teens onwards. So doubt teams are interested from going from 7-10 to 20 and two extra picks.

The drop off isn't at #5, it's at #2 and #11. This draft has a clear top 1, a probable but not guaranteed #2 and #3 in Demidov and Levshunov, and then it's completely flux all the way until pick #11 to 13 where you have Lindstrom, Catton, Helenius, Siliyav, Buium, Parekh, Dickinson, and Eiserman. There is an argument for Iginla and Yakemchuk to go top 10 as well but neither probably goes top 6. I would say trading into anything 11 or higher will be near impossible. I could see Helenius, Dickinson and Eiserman as the only guys there falling outside the top 10
