Quickest way to flip the switch is to have two really good games.
Even if you go 1W 1OTL, I'll consider that a win.

The Pens bottom 6F and the bottom 4D are really, really questionable at best. Flames have to play how they played against Nashville early in the season; if they come out against the Pens like NYR and MTL; they're going to get pumped.

Of all games for Crosby to break out he had to do it the night before he played us.

Flames will need to stay out of the box or Malkin, Kessel and Crosby will just embarrass us. Hoping Bennett and Neal can get a couple tonight because Pitt's 3rd line looks awful.

Pretty telling andersson is playing up the lineup over Brodie. Maybe shifting him back to the left side and sending valimaki down, or it could just be temporary and we could see Brodie playing on the top pairing again soon enough. Either way, andersson shouldn't be send down in any circumstance given his play this season.

Yes. Peters isn't afraid to shake things up by putting TJ on the third pairing. I'm guessing Valimaki is Stockton bound as this would have been game #10 for him.

I think that only works if they go to Junior.

I'm hoping Valimaki is back in the line up next game. I've liked his play all season.

Could be Peluso. Steinberg tweets there was no sign of him at the rink today. If true, the Flames will carry two extra D around. I can't see rotating Valimaki in and out of the line-up though.

He wasn't that much better on the right side than the left, and he definitely still had some of his terrible brain farts from before. Playing down the lineup should (hopefully) help, as we can't have costly plays against the deadly offense of Pittsburgh.

Good to see Czarnik back in and Ryan scratched. Bennett on the powerplay is long overdue. They need to send down Dube. Call up Klimchuk; they could use a defensive specialist.

Hamonic should help stabilize things but hopefully he's not being rushed back. Should help Hanifin a ton. Andersson was fantastic last game while Brodie-Stone was actually an acceptable pairing previously.

Team defensive has to be orders of magnitude better if they hope to have any chance against the Penguins.



Valimaki at 9 games. One more and they burn an year of his ELC. Will be interesting to see what they do next.

I think Brodie should have sat but both Brodie and Valimaki had a tough game in Montreal but Valimaki being the rookie sits and that is ok.

I think this great insight in that Peters is looking at slowly moving to the younger guys meaning Stone could be the next D-man sat out -- or Brodie if he continues to spiral.

It would not surprise me if this was the do-or-die game for Dube. If he does not produce tonight it is likely he ends up in the AHL at least for the short term. Hamonic back in the line-up should hopefully give the team a good idea of the state of the defense core. He will make a big difference in regards to the PK and important defensive zone situations and likely just as important allow GIO the be relied on less.
