old school for me all day every day in most of not every aspect of life

I consider myself old school but I am confused since I would listen to just about every album listed, though the Beatles are the only ones that I consistently listen to and I couldn't pick between SPB, White, Rubber, Abbey Road, all are imo among the greatest albums of all time.

Yeah, this is not at all what I was expecting with the subject line but I came in thinking "old school" so I will stick with that.

What goes where seems arbitrary as hell. I largely prefer the old school albums to the new school albums, but to me the distinctions are too fuzzy to make any sense at all. All of the albums except for Nirvana's Nevermind seem old school to me. "New school" should contain something distinctly different, like grunge, hiphop, rap, electronic and dance music, and so on. That would make at least a little more sense.

Oh, I see. You have some unique thread ideas. I think I'd consider myself old school in terms of death metal, black metal, thrash metal, UK82 punk, hardcore, and grindcore. As for your your OP albums, I think I'd lean slightly towards new school as well.

Okay, but I think there are still problems in terms of arbitrariness. Why is The Clash "old school" and Joni Mitchell "new school", for instance? If you had switched them around, would anybody have objected or even noticed? I really doubt it.

Now with the clarification, though, I think "old school" beats the living hell out of "new school." Not even remotely close,

I was mostly just joking, but there's a "true" side to it. Deacon Blues changes thread title. Posters get miffed because their words are suddenly out of context for the historical record. Rinse and repeat. People in his threads also seem to question his connection with Rolling Stone magazine, but maybe that's just a rumor or coincidence? To be honest, I don't mind that much about the changing thread titles. I wouldn't do the same, but it's an opportunity to talk about music and hear others' perspectives on the history of music, preferences, etc.

I thought you just meant Rolling Stones editors decided to change their criteria and reframe the list or something.
