Didn't he have a major uptick in snaps after like game 3 or something?

I know he wasn't ever a redshirt candidate.

Could be. I thought I remember hearing he started every game of his career. Maybe he had a snap count the first few games while he learned the defense, and eventually he was just too good to take off. That wouldn't surprise me.
