1/4/17:
UFA SIGNING
Jared Cowen (82), 2.5 mil for the remainder of the year.
Assistant GM, Nosal Reflore: "ncoramwx made this deal on a marginal hotel wi-fi connection at a ski lodge in Vermont. Since the phone signal was too weak, he verbally agreed with Jared Cowen via Skype, then Cowen and I signed the deal with his agent present here. Cowen will not only give us an emergency boost to our defense corps, but will also help our salary floor situation, since Bettman is probably cursing at us in his sleep right now. The salary floor is mindless!" Cowen replaces Murphy at LD3.
1/5/17: Dahlbeck returns and moves to RD3. Tennyson is a healthy scratch. Also, AGM Nosal Reflore is fired by ncoramwx for his comments. Finally, the Hurricanes lose 3-2 @ STL.
1/6/17: Rask returns to the lineup. Samuelsson is sent down. C1 is Rask, C2 is Letestu, C3 is Kruger, C4 is Nestrasil. Staal will be back soon. Finally, the Hurricanes lose 4-3 @ CHI.

January 28, 2017
1/8: 4-2 W vs. BOS
1/10: 4-3 OTW vs. CBJ, within one point of the CBJ for the last playoff spot. Matt Murray (18-15-0, 2.65 GAA/.913 pct, 35 GP) gets hurt with a swollen knee, Michael Leighton (78) is the callup, and is actually named the starter. In 13 games (4-5-0), Lack has a .880 save percentage and a 3.68 GAA. In this season thus far in the AHL, in 14 games (7-4-0), Leighton has a 1.55 GAA and a .947 save percentage.
1/11: Staal back in the lineup. Murphy to the AHL. Staal C1, Rask C2, Letestu C3, Kruger C4, Nordstrom LW4, Nestrasil RW4. Murray is the only remaining injury.
1/13: 4-2 L vs. BUF
1/14 pregame: Cowen injured. Dahlbeck LD2, Tennyson RD3

1/16: Cowen back in; replaces Tennyson.
1/17: 6-1 W @ CBJ
1/20: 3-1 W vs. PIT
1/20 postgame: McNabb injured ribs until about 2/15. Hanifin to LD1, Cowen up to LD2, Tennyson in at RD3.

1/28: At the all star break, the Canes are 26-21-2 and are one point behind Columbus for third and tied with Philadelphia for fourth in the division (with Carolina holding the tiebreaker; both teams have wild cards spots.) CAR and PHI have a head to head matchup coming out of the break. Depending on how Columbus does that night, the winner could leapfrog the Jackets for third.

March 1, 2017

2/4: 3-1 L @ NYI

The logo will replicate that of the old Nordiques. Season tickets are now on sale. There will be multiple open houses at Videotron Centre throughout the remainder of the winter, as well as spring and summer, for prospective season ticket holders."

2017 1st round pick (Blues are dead last in the league right now)

2/28: 3-2 OTL @ FLA
3/1: TRADE DEADLINE. Markus Kruger returns at C4 (Nestrasil to RW4), then a 6-2 W @ TB. No further trades.

April 11, 2017
3/3: 7-5 L vs. AZ. Kruger gets another concussion; Nestrasil to C4, Brickley to RW4.
3/5: 7-3 W @ AZ
3/7: 5-0 W @ COL
3/9: 3-0 L vs. NYR
3/11: 4-3 SOW vs. TOR

3/22: McAvoy back, things revert
3/23: 4-2 L @ MTL

4/7: 3-1 L vs. STL. Dahlbeck injured. I just put in Nestrasil at LD3 to avoid a nightmare in roster fixing, as one point by FLA in their next two games knocks CAR out of contention.
4/8: Panthers gain a point. Carolina is eliminated from playoff contention.
4/9: 4-2 L vs. PHI.
Final regular season record 40-38-4, 84 points. Five points out of the playoffs. Leading point and goal scorer Skinner (27-42--69), leading assist scorer Teravainen (19-47--66). Meanwhile, remember that 1st rounder I traded for from St. Louis? They finished tied for dead last in the league. Good chance we go #1 overall.

June 30, 2017

6/18 - Drraft Lottery won by Vancouver. Carolina picks second (via STL).

6/23-24: NHL ENTRY DRAFT:
With the 2nd pick, Quebec selects Nico Hischier
With the 39th pick, Quebec selects Urho Vaakanainen

TRADE
To Anaheim:
Roland McKeown

To Quebec:
2017 pick #45 (round 2)
2018 4th round pick

Insider 1 10:15am, 6/24/17:
Sounds like Quebec is trying to make a splash, shopping #1 center and a mid pairing Dman.

Insider 2 10:15am, 6/24/17:
Quebec GM ncoramwx, others chatting at Toronto table with Lou Lamiorello.

Insider 1 10:16am, 6/24/17:
Seems like a deal is imminent between QC and TOR. Kyle Dubas is flipping out at Lou Lamiorello, this one might be major

Insider 2 10:17am, 6/24/17:
Auston Matthews going to QC for Jeff Skinner. Other pieces going both ways too. TOR AGM Kyle Dubas vehemently opposed to the deal though

TRADE
To Toronto:
Jeff Skinner
Aleksi Saarela
2019, 2021 and 2022 1st round picks

To Quebec:
Auston Matthews
Jake Gardiner
2018 3rd round pick

ncoramwx: "This deal will help us become a contender soon. Auston Matthews is a dynamic center that will transform our team, and Jake Gardiner will steady our growing defensive core even further. Jeff Skinner is a tough price to pay, along with Aleksi Saarela and three first round picks, but we feel that this deal is in the long term interest of our team. We will exhaust all our resources to fill the hole left by Jeff Skinner within the next few weeks, and we wish Jeff and Aleksi all the best."

Toronto GM Lou Lamiorello: "Where am I?" *fails Breathalyzer*

Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment: "We have relieved Lou Lamiorello of his duties effective immediately due to his conduct unbecoming a general manager at the Draft. While there is no "undo" button on this disastrous trade, we are confident new General Manager Kyle Dubas will lead us in the right direction in filling the hole."

Toronto new GM Kyle Dubas: "I quit as Assistant General Mana---wait, I'm GM now? Sweet! Anyways, we do have a lot of work to do to fill these holes. We will pursue all available options. We are confident in the ability of some of our top prospects, including some who played on the wing for us last year, to fill in at center and become our next top center. We have several solid defensemen, and while losing Jake Gardiner hurts, we will again try to fill that gaping hole. I would like to apologize on behalf of the Maple Leafs for the way this whole situation was handled. I tried to talk Lou Lamiorello out of this trade vehemently but was unsuccessful. Brighter days will be ahead soon."

Insider 2 10:31am, 6/24/17:
Quebec on the clock at #45 but they may be flipping this pick to Vancouver. They call a timeout.

TRADE
To Vancouver:
2017 pick #45 (rd 2)
Sergey Tolchinsky

To Quebec:
2018 2nd round pick
2018 4th round pick

Vancouver GM Jim Benning: "I want Jordan Staal. I tried to get them to give me Jordan Staal but they said they have a game plan for him that does not involve us. Sergey Tolchinsky is a decent prospect though for someone who was undrafted."

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman: "We have fined the Vancouver Canucks $150,000 for tampering. The NHL will get $75,000 of that, and the remaining $75,000 will go to the Quebec Nordiques."

With the 56th pick, Quebec selects Nick Suzuki
With the 69th pick, Quebec selects Vladimir Grigorenko
With the 159th pick, Quebec selects Riley Lamb
With the 189th pick, Quebec selects Steven McLean

ncoramwx: "First off, I love Nico Hischier as a hockey player. I was crying when I realized I would have to trade him, but his position is full of depth in our organization and so he was the one we had to cut ties with. Again, I am so upset to do that and wish Nico the best in the Jets organization. Jacob and Josh will both be huge assets to our defensive core, and we wish Jake the best in Winnipeg. We also wish Brayden the best in Ottawa, and Chris will be a valuable addition to our AHL team. Finally, as a transaction announcement, Ryan Murphy has been sent back to the AHL along with Chris DiDomenico."

So I'm playing NHL 17 as the Carolina hurricanes and I checked the updates to see who was on waivers that had gotten claimed. Then I see players who were put on waivers that weren't claimed that I would of claimed had the notification popped up for me. I checked my salary cap and player contracts and they were both good. However some players that are on waivers show up and I can claim them. However this is more rare then players sliding through. this has happened to serval of my franchise modes.anybody know anything?

12/14 - 4-3 SOW vs. VAN.
12/15 - 5-4 SOW @ BUF
12/18 - 3-2 L vs. PIT. Coach Stevens goes nuts at his top line: "These guys are being way more irresponsible with the puck than we would expect them to be!! And they have only combined for 18 goals all year... our second line has done more than that with 26 goals, 13 from JT alone! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, TEUVO, AUSTON AND ARTEMI! TRADE SOMEONE, NCORAMWX!"
12/19 -
Insider 1 10:12am, 12/19/18
Hearing QC is actively shopping their whole first line and a deal is imminent. My guess is Teuvo Teravainen goes today

Insider 2 10:14am, 12/19/18
Re: Nordiques first line. They are chatting with Buffalo about someone. I agree with Insider 1 that Teravainen would probably be the first to go.

Insider 2 10:17am, 12/19/18
QC trade talks update... Sounds like they are switching top line players with Buffalo, but who exactly remains to be seen

Insider 1 10:18am, 12/19/18
QC/BUF trade is imminent. Auston Matthews going to the Sabres

Insider 2 10:19am, 12/19/18
Eichel to QC for Matthews and picks

2022 6th round pick

To Quebec:
Jack Eichel (95)

ncoramwx: "Things unfortunately came to too much of a head between Coach Stevens and Auston, who we wish luck in Buffalo. We would like to welcome Jack to Quebec. More major trades could happen."

12/20 - 4-3 OTW @ NYI
12/21 - 5-4 W vs. NYR
12/22 - Owner calls me a "champion" even though I haven't won anything yet. (2nd place division) Makes reaching the SCF a primary goal.

12/26/18 - Just a "contender" again. 4-2 W vs. NJ. McAvoy injured for about a week. Haydn Fleury (80) called up, will play RD3 with Skjei.

1/8/19 -
Insider 1 4:40pm, 1/8/19
QC-TOR trade. Teravainen for Marner. This might be a one for one swap too

TRADE:
To Toronto:
Teuvo Teravainen (87)

To Quebec:
Mitchell Marner (86)

Marner will play at RW1.

ncoramwx: "The first line has not met our expectations for much of the year, which is why we traded for Jack Eichel last month. Again, we are losing an incredible leader with Teuvo, who is a fantastic playmaker and who I wish the best in Toronto. Mitch has already shown his worth as an incredibly skilled passer in the NHL and is a welcome addition. As for the captaincy left vacant by Teuvo's departure, I have chosen Alternate Captain Marcus Kruger to succeed him as Captain, while Aaron Ekblad will join Noah Hanifin and fill the Alternate Captain vacancy left by Kruger's promotion."
1/9 - "contender". Then Marner scores two goals in a 6-5 SOL @ CBJ.
1/10 - 5-1 W @ TOR
1/12 - 3-2 L @ MTL
1/14 - 7-3 W vs. CBJ
1/15 - Pastrnak returns at RW2. Rantanen RW3, Brickley LW4, Nordstrom scratched.
1/16 - 2-1 W @ TB. Nordiques take over first place in the Metro, one point ahead of PIT.
1/18 - 4-2 W @ NJ
1/20 - 2-1 W vs. DET. Ekblad out a few days. Trouba RD1, McAvoy RD2, Haydn Fleury (80) callup RD3.
1/21 - Ekblad returns, previous pairings resume
1/22 - 4-3 SOL vs. CHI
1/24 - 6-2 W @ DET. Miller injured. Guentzel C2, Kruger C3, Nordstrom C4
1/25 - Fleury officially sent down.
1/26-27: ALL STAR GAME
Jack Eichel represents the Nordiques in a 3-1 win for the Eastern Conference. At the all star break, the Nordiques have 63 points, good for a 6 point lead for first place (Pittsburgh is 2nd with 57 points.)
1/29 - 2-1 SOW vs. WPG
2/1 - 5-3 W vs. NYI
2/2 - 5-4 SOL @ CHI
2/5 - 5-0 L vs. LA. Postgame: Marner injured. Miller available for the next game. Marchessault RW1, Rantanen LW2, Aho RW3, Nordstrom RW4, regular center pairings resume.
2/7 - 4-1 W @ MIN
2/8 - Marner returns at RW1. Marchessault LW2. Rantanen RW3. Aho RW4, Nordstrom scratched. Finally, "champion".
2/9 - 4-3 OTL @ EDM
2/12 - 3-2 L vs. ARZ
2/13 - "contender"
2/14 - 4-2 L vs. COL
2/15 - 7-1 L vs. NYI
2/17 - 4-2 L vs. MTL
2/18 - Tied with PIT for first in the Metro (71 points)
2/19 - 4-1 W @ NJ
2/23 - 5-3 L vs. WSH
2/26 - Pregame: six points behind PIT for first but 5 points clear of three way tie for third, due to a recent slump. 4-3 L @ NSH
2/27 - 2-1 L @ DAL
3/1 - 3-2 L vs. BOS. TRADE DEADLINE passes with no deals.
3/2 - Caps pass ahead, they are in second by on epoint.
3/3 - 3-1 W vs. FLA. FINALLY!!! A WIN!
3/6 - 5-2 W @ COL
3/8 - 2-1 L @ SJ. As a Bruins fan in real life, this is starting to feel familiar from a certain March collapse, but it isn't that late in the season yet.
3/9 - 2-0 W @ ARZ
3/11 - 3-1 W @ LA
3/13 - 8-4 L @ WSH. If we play these guys in the playoffs...
3/15 - 5-2 L vs. NYR. McAvoy out for a month with a concussion. Haydn Fleury (81) called up to slot in at RD3.
3/17 - 4-3 SOL vs. OTT
3/19 - 3-1 L @ FLA. NYR and PHI are creeping up.
3/21 - 3-2 W @ TOR
3/22 - 5-3 W vs. PHI
3/24 - 4-2 W vs. WSH!!!!!!
3/27 - 4-1 W vs. DAL (who is tied with PIT for the #1 record in the NHL too)
3/29 - 2-1 OTL @ PIT
3/31 - 2-1 W vs. NJ
4/2 - 3-1 W vs. NYI
4/3 - The Quebec Nordiques are going to the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs!!! The Nordiques clicched a spot while idle on 4/3; this is the first playoff appearance for the Nordiques/Hurricanes/Whalers franchise since 2009!
4/4 - 5-1 W @ NYR.
4/5 - With one point in the next game, the Nordiques clinch the #2 Metro seed and thus home ice advantage in Round One. (The Pittsburgh Penguins have clinched the division already, and are 12 points ahead of Quebec.)
4/6 - 3-2 W @ BUF. Nordiques get the #2 Metro seed and thus home ice in Round One against either the New York Rangers or Washington Capitals.
4/7 - 5-3 L @ PIT. The Capitals lose their final game in regulation, and the Rangers get a point and are in the playoffs. With 93 points and 81 GP for NYR with 39 ROW and 94 pts/82 GP/35 ROW for WSH, one point by the Rangers gives a QC-NYR series.
4/9 - 3-1 W vs. CBJ. The NYR gain a point in their final game, so the first round opponent for the Nordiques will be the New York Rangers, home ice to Quebec.
4/10 - Finalized seedings. The winner of the Nordiques-NYR series gets the PIT-CBJ winner. Pittsburgh won the East while Columbus got in as the last wild card.
Division winners from best to worst record: CHI (President's Trophy), PIT (East winner), Dallas, Buffalo. No non division winners did any bettter than the four division winners; seven teams got 100 points: the four division winners, STL, BOS, QC.
As for the Nordiques season, the final record was 45-26-11, good for 101 points, 2nd in the Metro, 4th in the East and 7th in the NHL. The top goal and point scorer was Jack Eichel (43-46--89, albeit some is from Buffalo.) The top assist scorer was Artemi Panarin (17-48--65; he stepped it up as the season went on). Mitch Marner had 15-40--55. As for defensive regulars, everyone but Brady Skjei got >10 points: Ekblad 13-35--48, Hanifin 10-21--31, Bean 9-10--19, McAvoy 3-13--16, Trouba 3-12--15, Skjei 1-4--5. In his 14 games, Haydn Fleury scored 2 goals and no assists. Back to forwards, Miller impressed with 24-28--52, as did Pastrnak with 23-27--50; fed in part by Marchessault, who was a playmaking machine at 9-37--46.

4/12 - Round One begins, 3-2 L vs. NYR. Rangers strike fast in the first, then Aho and Panarin score in the second before the Rangers strike twice in the third. NYR lead series 1-0
4/13 - McAvoy returns for the next game at RD3; Fleury sent down
4/14 - 2-1 L vs. NYR. Both teams score in the second; Eichel with the Nordiques goal. Rangers goal in the third. NYR lead series 2-0. McAvoy suffers another concussion (or a relapse of symptoms), is out until late May. Fleury back up.
4/16 - 4-3 OTW @ NYR. Aho scored twice, including the GWG in OT. Pastrnak and Panarin had the other goals. NYR lead series 2-1
4/18 - 4-3 W @ NYR. Ekblad scored twice, including the GWG. Pastrnak and Guentzel the other two goals. Series tied 2-2
4/20 - 2-0 L vs. NYR. NYR lead series 3-2
4/21 - CBJ defeats top seeded PIT, 4 games to 2. The winner of the NYR-QC series will have home ice vs. CBJ in Round Two.
4/22 - 3-2 W @ NYR. Pastrnak the GWG. Panarin and Marchessault also scored. Series tied 3-3, we will have a Game 7
4/24 - 2-0 W vs. NYR. Panarin the series winning GWG, Aho the other goal. Nordiques win the series 4-3!! Up next is Columbus!
4/26 - 2-1 OTW vs. CBJ. Rantanen the OT GWG, after Bean tied it during the third right after Columbus broke the ice. QC leads series 1-0
4/28 - 5-0 L vs. CBJ. Series tied 1-1
4/30 - 4-3 L vs. CBJ, they scored the GWG with 11 seconds to go in regulation. Eichel scored twice, Brickley the other goal. CBJ lead series 2-1
5/2 - 4-3 W @ CBJ. Brickley the GWG; other goals Trouba, Ekblad, Marchessault. Series tied 2-2
5/4 - 4-3 W vs. CBJ. Marchessault the GWG; other goals Panarin, Skjei, Kruger. QC leads series 3-2
5/6 - 4-3 L @ CBJ. Marner, Panarin, Eichel the goals. Series tied 3-3.
5/8 - 3-2 OTL (in 2OT) vs. CBJ on a goal by Pierre-Luc Dubois. Marner and Miller scored the Quebec goals. CBJ win series 4-3, making STL/LA, BOS/CBJ the final four. Pastrnak got hurt in this game and would have been out for about a week had we moved on. Great season, great building block for the future. Eichel finished the playoffs as Quebec's top scorer (4-12--16, also the leader in assists), followed by Aho (4-8--12) and Panarin (6-4--12, also leader in goals). (If you're wondering, the AHL team missed the playoffs.)
5/23 - Stanley Cup Final: LA Kings vs. Columbus Blue Jackets. CBJ is on a Cinderella run, beating the top seeded (and tied with CHI for the most points - tiebreaker to CHI) PIT in 6 then the Nordiques in 7 then BOS in 7. CBJ got in with the lowest amount of points of any East playoff team, with only one West team having less (COL, 88, and they also took out the top seed in their conference, beating CHI in 7 in round one, before being slammed in 5 games by STL). Meanwhile, LA made it in as the Pacific Division winner. They decimated WPG in 4 games, smashed VAN in 5, and rolled over STL in 5.
6/3 - LA comes back from a 3-1 series deficit to force a winner take all Game 7. (I can actually track this now because I made the playoffs!)
6/4 - Columbus wins the Stanley Cup in a Game 7. Their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, won the Calder Cup.
6/5 - I am offered contracts to manage the Anaheim Ducks (1.512M/yr for 3 years), Boston (3.662M/yr for 3 years), Buffalo (1.411M/yr for 3 yrs), Calgary (1.411M/yr for 4 years), Chicago (3.528M/yr for 4 yrs), Colorado (1.714M/yr for 5 years), the Stanley Cup Champion Columbus Blue Jackets (1.142M/yr for 3 yrs), Dallas (1.276M/yr for 5 yrs), Edmonton (2.453M/yr for 5 yrs), Los Angeles (2.621M/yr for 5 yrs), Montreal (3.416M/yr for 3 yrs), Pittsburgh (3.125M/yr for 3 yrs), Quebec (renewal at 1.714M/yr for 4 yrs), St. Louis (1.714M/yr for 4 yrs), and Winnipeg (1.075M/yr for 4 years).
I choose to take the loyalty discount and stay in Quebec. I gave serious thought to Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Edmonton, Pittsburgh and St. Louis - particularly Boston - but I decide to stay in Quebec, sensing that they are on the verge of something big.

Swept by Florida in round 2. San Jose wins the Cup again:handclap:

First time that I don't win the Cup during my contract, so I'll continue with the Islanders.

Shoulda got one game in
This is my first post on here. I've always done the GM thing going back to the 2K versions on the original Xbox. It was always a fun thing for me to do. I'm playing NHL16 on the PS3. Superstar difficulty, Trades medium. I'm currently on a first contract as the Sabres GM. First season was a wash (dump contracts, attempt to tank and finished 22nd overall). During that season I swapped picks with Calgary and got first overall (Matthews). Traded with Winnipeg at the draft (Two future first and Franson for their first [G. F. Foulem]), my own first (Sean Day) and was offered Washington's 1st (Tkachuk) and 3rd for Kane. That being said, this is what happened with my 2016-17 season.

I'd go more in depth (top ten scorers, etc.) but I never wrote those down. And seeing I've started my third season already, I can't get that info back. Next season I'll actually post something more than just a summary of the season (month by month results, etc.)

Season Four (2019-20, until Dec. 29, 2019)
NOTE: This only runs until and inclusive of 12/29/19 because I've been away, and I left my laptop charger at home. May as well post this before the battery dies.

9/13/19 - Owner drops me to a "hopeful", in part because their primary goal is: "Our Starting Goalie situation needs to improve to make us a serious contender." *starts shopping Matt Murray, who frustratingly is still an 86 overall*
9/14/19 - I decide to shop Matt Murray more seriously to Western Conference teams.
9/21/19 -
TRADE
To Vancouver:
Matt Murray (86, age 25)
Callum Booth (68, age 22)
2020 1st round pick
2023 4th round pick
2025 1st round pick

To Quebec:
Thatcher Demko (88, age 23)

Owner: "Contender" again

9/22 - As an administrative note... when Kruger left as it was the only way for me to re-sign him, EA auto-awarded the captaincy to Jack Eichel. To keep morale up, I'm not going to strip anyone of the C or A.
9/25 - PRESEASON BEGINS: 3-2 W vs. CBJ. Thatcher Demko got an assist!!
9/27 - 5-1 W vs. NJ
9/29 - 3-2 SOW @ PIT
10/1 - 3-1 W @ PHI
10/3 - 4-2 W vs. NYI
10/5 - 2-1 OTW vs. WSH
10/7 - 2-1 L @ NYR
Nordiques finish the preseason 6-1-0, good for 12 points and the best among the Metro teams.

10/12 - Opening Night

Forward Lines:
Panarin (87) - Eichel (95) - Marner (86)
Gauthier (84) - Guentzel (82) - Pastrnak (85)
Marchessault (84) - Miller (85) - Rantanen (82)
Leipsic (81) - Kruger (81) - Aho (81)

Defense Pairs:
Hanifin (90) - Ekblad (91)
McAvoy (85) - Trouba (87)
Bean (84) - Fleury (83)

Goalies:
Demko (88)
Altshuller (80)

I have no idea how Miller and Guentzel got switched, but the team played great so I am keeping it that way. If anyone gets mad or the team slumps, those two are switching again.

Opening Night Result: 4-1 L @ LA. Newly minted third liner J.T. Miller gets the only goal.

10/15 - 2-1 OTW @ MIN. Haydn Fleury scores twice.
10/17 - 4-0 W vs. EDM. Pastrnak, Guentzel, Marchessault, Marner score goals.
10/19 - 5-2 W vs. NYI. Jack Eichel hat trick; Leipsic and Marchessault also score.
10/21 - 5-3 L @ TOR
10/22 - 4-2 L vs. MTL
10/24 - 4-2 L vs. LA. Aho gets hurt. Nick Suzuki is the callup and will play at RW4
10/26 - 5-0 W vs. CBJ
10/27 - 4-2 W @ NYI
10/30 - 3-1 W vs. OTT
10/31 - 3-2 W @ PIT
11/1 - Aho returns. Suzuki sent down; he scored an assist during his four game stint. Also, some defense changes: McAvoy switches places with Bean and Fleury switches to LD3 (McAvoy RD3).
11/2 - 3-2 W @ TOR
11/5 - 4-1 W vs. OTT
11/6 - Owner switches to "champion", changes the primary goal to making the SCF
11/8 - 3-2 SOW @ DET. Hanifin gets hurt, out 7-10 days. Bean LD1, Fleury LD2, calling up Trevor Carrick (78) for LD3.
11/9 - 3-2 SOL @ WPG, breaking the 7 game win streak. Still on an 8 game point streak.
11/12 - 2-1 SOL @ BOS. 9 game point streak. Marcus Kruger concussion. Matthew Peca (79) called up and will play C4.
11/13 - "contender". First round is the goal.
11/14 - 6-2 L vs. DAL. Point streak ends at 9 games.
11/15 - Hanifin back. Prior pairings resume. Carrick placed on waivers which he must clear to be sent down.
11/16 - Carrick clears waivers. 4-2 W vs. BUF, Peca scores his first NHL goal.
11/17 - "champion".
11/19 - 4-3 L @ TB
11/20 - "contender". Then 2-0 W @ BUF
11/21 - "champion"
11/22 - 4-2 L vs. division leading WSH
11/24 - 4-3 SOL vs. SJ, "contender"
11/26 - 3-2 W vs. FLA
11/28 - 5-4 SOW @ BOS
11/30 - 3-1 L vs. MIN; Aho injured, Suzuki called up to fill RW4.
12/1 - 6-2 W @ CHI
12/2 - Aho returns; Suzuki back down
12/3 - 5-4 W vs. TB. Eichel out 7-12 days. Suzuki back up to fill C4 as Peca moves to C3, and Miller jumps to C1 from C3 (don't want to break up the second line).
12/5 - 5-3 W vs. VAN
12/7 - 4-1 L vs. STL
12/8 - 5-3 W @ OTT
12/11 - 4-1 L @ NSH
12/12 - Eichel returns at C1 and Kruger returns at C4, meaning Miller moves back to C3. Suzuki sent straight down, while Peca must clear waivers, and I am worried about losing him for nothing.
12/13 - Peca put on waivers to be sent down
12/14 - Peca clears waivers, assigned to AHL Charlotte. 3-1 L @ STL. Mitch Marner and Daniel Altshuller both injured; Pastrnak RW1 Rantanen RW2 Aho RW3; Suzuki (78, RW4) and Halonen (78 backup G) called up
12/16 - 4-2 W vs. CHI. Marchessault out for 10-15 days, Peca up at LW4, Leipsic LW3.
12/18 - 3-2 SOW vs. NJ
12/19 - 8-5 L @ PHI
12/25/19 (EA, learn the CBA) - 3-1 L @ COL
12/27/19 - 2-1 L @ ARZ
12/28/19 - Marchessault available. He will take over at LW3. Leipsic LW4. Peca RW4. Suzuki sent down.
12/29/19 - 3-2 SOW @ EDM

(Continued) Season Four (2019-20)
12/31/19 - End of Decade Update: With 51 points we are tied for 2nd in the Metro with PHI (45 pts). WSH is 1st with 51 points and they are the next opponent. Jake Guentzel leads the team in points and assists with 8-22--30, in no small part thanks to the Jack Eichel injury taking points from him, allowing Guentzel (the C2) to collect more points. The leader in goals is Mitch Marner (12-17--29), but Julien Gauthier (11-12--23) and Jack Eichel (10-12--22) are in close for the goal race. Artemi Panarin is in sole possession of 8th in goals (7-17--24) which is underwhelming for being the one labeled our top line sniper.
1/1/20 - Welcome to the Twenties! 3-2 L vs. WSH
1/3/20 - Daniel Altshuller returns as the backup G. Niilo Halonen sent down to AHL Charlotte.
1/4/20 - 5-2 W vs. BUF
1/5/20 - 4-0 W @ NYR
1/7/20 - 4-1 W @ MTL
1/9/20 - 4-3 OTW vs. CGY
1/11/20 - 4-3 L @ FLA
1/12/20 - 5-0 W @ NJ. Ekblad out for the rest of the month, McAvoy to RD1, Bean to LD2, Fleury to RD3, Trevor Carrick called up to fill RD3.
1/13/20 - Marner returns at RW1. Pastrnak RW2, Rantanen RW3, Aho RW4, Peca scratched.
1/18/20 - 2-1 W vs. PHI
1/19/20 - 5-2 W @ PIT
1/20/20 - TRADE
To Anaheim:
Jacob Trouba (87)
2020 and 2023 2nd round picks
Jake Chelios

To Quebec:
Shea Theodore (85)
2020 1st round pick
Keaton Thompson

Thompson is sent down immediately to the AHL. Theodore will slot in at RD2.

TRADE
To Tampa Bay:
Artemi Panarin
Shea Theodore
Niilo Halonen
2020 and 2022 3rd round picks

To Quebec:
Jonathan Drouin
Timothy Liljegren
Vladislav Namestnikov
Dylan Blujus
2020 2nd round pick

Quebec will retain 50% of Panarin's $7M salary for the remainder of this season.

TRADE
To Buffalo:
Dylan Blujus

To Quebec:
Jonas Johansson

TRADE
To Colorado:
Brendan Leipsic
2020 3rd round pick (via TOR)

To Quebec:
2020 2nd round pick

Since this has shaken the lines significantly, here is a roster update:
Forwards
Drouin (84) - Eichel (95) - Marner (86)
Gauthier (84) - Guentzel (84) - Pastrnak (85)
Marchessault (84) - Miller (85) - Rantanen (82)
Namestnikov (80) - Kruger (81) - Aho (81)

Defense
Hanifin (90) - McAvoy (85)*
Bean (84) - Liljegren (80)*
Fleury (83) - Carrick (78)*

Goalies
Demko (88)
Altshuller (80)

* Ekblad at RD1 is injured. Carrick will be sent down and the others will move down a spot when Ekblad returns.

Peca and Johansson are placed on waivers with the intent to send them down to the AHL.

1/21 - Peca and Johansson clear waivers and are assigned to AHL Charlotte. The owner drops us from "champion" to "hopeful". Relax, Panarin was significantly underperforming for what I consider his role to be.
1/22 - 5-2 W @ WSH. New acquisition Jonathan Drouin had a goal and two assists. Marchessault is injured with a concussion; Warren Foegele (77) is called up to fill LW4 as Namestnikov moves up to LW3.
1/23 - Ekblad available at RD1. McAvoy RD2, Liljegren RD3, Carrick is scratched. Then, a 4-3 L vs. DET depsite a Jack Eichel hat trick.
1/24 - We are a "contender" again. Guess the ownership reversed the overreaction.
1/25 - ALL STAR WEEKEND: Noah Hanifin will represent Quebec.
1/28 - 3-1 L @ NYI
1/30 - 5-4 L vs. TOR
1/31 - Marchessault returns, resume prior lines, Foegele put on waivers with the intent to be sent to the AHL
2/1 - Foegele clears waivers and goes to the AHL. 4-3 SOL vs. ANA. Fleury is out with an MCL sprain, and Carrick will take his spot at LD3.
2/3 - 5-4 SOW vs. COL
2/6 - 5-3 L vs. PIT
2/7 - LINE CHANGEUP: Jonathan Drouin and Julien Gauthier switch places.
2/8 - 3-2 SOW vs. ARZ
2/12 - 6-3 W @ SJ. Mitch Marner hat trick, with Jack Eichel, Julien Gauthier, and Jake Bean also scoring in the first game after the line change. Eichel got 4 assists, and Marner and Pastrnak also had 2 helpers.
2/13 - 7-4 W @ VAN. Jonathan Marchessault hat trick, Eichel, Gauthier, Pastrnak, Guentzel the other goals; Eichel, Marner, Rantanen 2 helpers each
2/16 - 4-3 W @ CGY, Guentzel two goals (Bean, Miller the others)
2/19 - 4-2 L vs. NJ
2/22 - 1-0 W @ CBJ
2/25 - Fleury is back at LD3, Carrick scratched. 5-2 W vs. NSH
2/28 - 4-3 OTW vs. TB
2/29 - Happy Leap Day! Off day.
3/1 - TRADE DEADLINE: I choose to stand pat at the deadline. Let's do a goalie update Impressively, Daniel Altshuller is the best goalie with a full time roster position (backup or starter) in the NHL right now, with a 1.78 GAA and .941 save percentage in 18 GP (10-3-2, 3 no decisions), leading the league in both of the first two categories of goalies with 10 or more games played. MEanwhile, Thatcher Demko has a .914 save percentage and 2.67 GAA, both best among rookie starters, with a 27-18-2 record in 47 GP. Demko's numbers and workload are in the immediate neighborhood of starters like Andrei Vasilevskiy and Frederik Andersen. As for our actual game on 3/1, it is a 5-2 L @ NJ
3/4 - 4-2 W @ MTL. Guentzel is injured. I move Miller to C2, Kruger to C3, and give Namestnikov a chance to play C4 while Carrick dresses as a forward at LW4.
3/6 - 4-1 W @ DET
3/8 - Guentzel back, resume prior lines. 3-2 SOL @ FLA
3/10 - 5-3 L vs. NYR
3/12 - 4-1 L vs. CBJ
3/13 - 3-2 OTW @ PHI
3/16 - 4-3 SOW vs. NYI. Fleury is injured, so Carrick takes his spot at LD3.
3/18 - 3-2 OTW @ DAL
3/20 - 5-0 W @ WPG
3/22 - 2-1 W @ NYR. McAvoy is injured. Keaton Thompson is called up to fill LD3, as Carrick moves to RD3 and Liljegren RD2.
3/23 - 3-2 W @ CBJ
3/25 - 2-1 OTL vs. BOS
3/26 - McAvoy returns at RD2, resume prior pairings. Thompson sent down
3/27 - 5-1 W vs. PIT
3/28 - Playoffs CLINCHED! Right now the Nordiques sit in second place in the Metro with 98 points, three behind WSH and nine ahead of a third place tie between CBJ and PHI.
3/29 - 3-1 L vs. PHI
3/30 - 11-5 W @ WSH (I was shocked too when I saw this!)
4/1 - 4-2 L @ PHI
4/2 - Fleury back at LD3, Carrick scratched.
4/3 - With a PHI regulation loss, the Nordiques clinch first round home ice for the second straight year! Quebec, with 100 points, is three behind WSH for first place in the Metro. Every team in the Metro has three games left.
4/5 - 3-1 L vs. NYR. WSH is idle. A loss of any type in the next game (or one point by WSH) means WSH clinches the division
4/6 - 4-1 W vs. NYI. WSH loses in regulation, 3-1 vs CBJ. Both teams have one game left. 102 points QC, 103 points WSH. Due to the ROW tiebreaker, WSH needs one point in their final game to win regardless of what we do. The only scenario where the Nordiques can win the division is a WSH regulation loss AND any win by the Nordiques vs. Anaheim on 4/9.
4/7 - In real life, I am a Boston Bruins fan. The Bruins TV broadcasters, NESN, give out a 7th Player Award every year as voted on by the fans. While I won't be doing any fan voting, I will be giving out a 7th Player Award for my Nordiques GM mode right before the start of the playoffs, to the player that went above and beyond my expectations this season.
4/8 - WSH loses their final game in regulation, 5-0 vs. last place in the Metro Pittsburgh (and last place by a lot). QC controls their own destiny - a win to get the top seed in the Metro. The Metro winner will also win the Eastern Conference and the Presidents' Trophy because we have 102 points, WSH has 103, and the other East division winner, Boston, has finished their season with 102 points, and nobody else in the NHL (including the West) can exceed 100.
4/9 - 6-0 W @ ANA and the Nordiques win the Presidents' Trophy!!!
4/10 - END OF REGULAR SEASON REPORT:
Leading goal and point scorer (team): Jack Eichel (42-40--82)
Leading assist scorer (team): Mitch Marner (22-53--75)
Jonathan Drouin also finished with over 40 assists (18-41--59, albeit some with Tampa)
Leading goal scorer (team defensemen): Jake Bean (9-8--17)
Leading assist and point scorer (team Dmen): Aaron Ekblad (7-25--32)
Not that it is the most important stat but every full timer on the team finished with a plus minus of 10 or better except for Jake Guentzel (+6), Marcus Kruger (+4), David Pastrnak (-2), Sebastian Aho (-4) and Vladislav Namestnikov (-7, some with Tampa).
Everyone with playing time recorded at least one point except Warren Foegele (3 GP); the only other non-goal scoer was Trevor Carrick (26 GP and 5 assists), and the only other non assist scorer was Keaton Thompson (13 GP, 1 goal).
As for the goalies, Thatcher Demko had a 2.59 GAA, .915 save percentage, and 36-23-3 record in 63 GP, while Daniel Altshuller had a 1.95 GAA, a .934 sv%, 13-5-2 record, and 2 assists in 23 GP.
As a team, we gave up 214 goals, good for a tie with WSH for seventh fewest in the league, while scoring 263 goals, one behind Tampa for most in the league. This results in a team +/- of +49.

And the winner of the 2019-20 7th Player Award is....
Julien Gauthier. 27-29--56, good for second on the team in goals, seventh in assists (on a team deep with 30+ assist guys), tied with Noah Hanifin for third best +/- value at +24, from a second year player who had a 30 point increase over last year, a massive improvement defensively. He also had 6 PPGs, third best on the team, and one of only three players to score a SHG (JT Miller and Timothy Liljegren, all three with one SHG.)
Runner ups for the award were Jake Guentzel, Charlie McAvoy and Daniel Altshuller (in no particular order).

Throughout the league:
Points leader: Patrick Kane (58-45--103)
Assists leader: Nicklas Backstrom (15-84--99)
Goals leader: Alex Ovechkin (59-38--97)
Points leader among defensemen: Oliver Ekman-Larsson (17-62--79)
Assists leader among defensemen: Morgan Reilly (11-63--74)
Goals leader among defensemen: Erik Karlsson (25-51--76)
Wins leader among all goalies: Corey Crawford (45-23-1, 2.36 GAA, .916 sv% in 71 GP)
GAA and Sv% leader among all regular NHL roster goalies (15+ GP): Daniel Altshuller (see above)
GAA and Sv% leader among starters (41+ GP): Robin Lehner (2.23 GAA, .925 sv%, 38-17-3 with 66 GP)
Fewest goals surrendered among backups (15-40 GP): Kaapo Kahkonen (28 GA in 15 GP, but he was in the NHL the whole year)
Fewest goals surrendered among starters (41+ GP): Matt Murray (96 GA in 41 GP)
One goalie scored a goal this season in the NHL: Thomas Greiss (1-2--3).
There was a three way tie for leader in points and assists among goalies: Devan Dubnyk, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Anthony Stolarz (all 0-4--4).

Team Stats:
Presidents' Trophy/East winner/Metro winner: Quebec Nordiques, 104 pts.
Atlantic winner: Boston Bruins, 102 pts. (third in the NHL)
West/Central winner: St. Louis Blues (100 pts., fourth in the NHL, 46 ROW)
Pacific winner: LA Kings (100 pts., sixth in the NHL, 30 ROW)
Other teams with 100+ points: Washington Capitals (2nd NHL and Metro, 103 pts.); Chicago Blackhawks (2nd Central and 5th NHL, 100 pts., 43 ROW)
Worst record: Ottawa Senators (72 pts., 33-43-6)
Other notes: The Penguins had a historic collapse Every 90+ point team made the playoffs, except Dallas who gained 92 points in a tough Central Division with all but one team having 92 or more points. Meanwhile, the Pacific Division was pathetic: the Anaheim Ducks made the playoffs with 82 points and 32 ROW, good for 3rd in the Pacific and 23rd in the NHL! Seven other teams missed the playoffs with better records (DAL/92, NJ/88, NYI/86, DET/84, BUF/83, COL 82/33 ROW). Had the Canucks (81 points, 35 ROW) gotten one more point, they would have been playoff bound; same thing if the Coyotes (79 pts, 35 ROW) had gotten three more points. Four more for the Flames (79 points, 25 ROW) also. With Anaheim's awfulness and LA's dominance in the division, who else qualified from the Pacific? San Jose (95 points, 36 ROW). The Metro was the toughest with five 96+ point teams making the playoffs and the rest being 88 points or below.

PLAYOFF MATCHUPS (position and points in parentheses)

East:
QC (M1, 104 pts.) vs. NYR (M5/WC2, 96)
WSH (M2, 103 pts.) vs. PHI (M3, 99)
BOS (A1, 102 pts.) vs. CBJ (M4/WC1, 97)

CHI (C2, 100) vs. NSH (C3, 99)
LA (P1, 100) vs. MIN (C4/WC1, 92)
SJ (P2, 95) vs. ANA (P3, 82)

These playoff matchups are hilarious and show why the current NHL playoff system is badly broken. The Sharks got rewarded for finishing 2nd instead of 1st in the Pacific, and the Kings get a much tougher draw for getting first place; ditto St. Louis, who as the best record should be playing the worst record. Meanwhile, the two worst teams in the East get to play each other and avoid Quebec and Boston, who instead get tougher draws. This whole thing is broken.
Anyway, we get the NY Rangers, and the winner of our series gets the winner of WSH vs. PHI. This is a rematch of last year's first round matchup, except now the Nordiques are Presidents' Trophy winners, whereas it was a 2 v 3 matchup last year.

4/11 - START OF PLAYOFFS: Round One, Game One: 2-0 L vs. NYR. NYR lead series 1-0.
4/13 - Round 1, Game 2: 1-0 W vs. NYR. Lone goal by Marchessault, assisted by McAvoy and Miller in the 2nd period. Each team took 30 SOG. Thatcher Demko is injured after 12 saves and 24 minutes of the game (early 2nd period); Daniel Altshuller makes his NHL playoff debut to relieve the remaining 60 minutes and makes 18 saves in a shared shutout. Postgame, Jonas Johansson (76) is called up to back up Altshuller. Series tied 1-1.
4/15 - 3-2 OTW @ NYR. Rangers go up 1-0 early in the 3rd, then Gauthier scores less than a minute later to tie it. 2:15 later, Jack Eichel puts QC up 2-1, then 53 seconds later the Rangers tie it. Gauthier scores 1:15 into OT to win it with his second of the night. Mitch Marner has 3 assists, and Eichel and Ekblad also get helpers. Altshuller made 30 saves. QC leads series 2-1
4/17 - 2-1 W @ NYR. 22 saves for Altshuller. Rangers go up 1-0 in the first. Eichel scores in the 2nd, then Kruger scores early in the 3rd. Assists to Ekblad, Marner, and Miller (one each). QC leads series 3-1
4/18 - Demko is available and will start Game Five. Johansson is scratched but I choose to give Gordon Franson a chance to finally be the starter in the AHL for the playoffs there, partially to protect our top AHL goalie in case he is needed at the NHL level again.
4/19 - 2-1 2OTL vs. NYR. Jake Bean opens the scoring late in the first (assists: Eichel and McAvoy). The Rangers tie it late in the third, then win it early in double overtime. Demko made 35 saves. QC leads series 3-2
4/21 - 4-1 L @ NYR. Demko with 30 saves. JT Miller our only goal, from Rantanen and Marchessault, in the second period. Rangers scored in the first and three times in the third (incluidng an ENG). Series tied 3-3
4/22 - All four Eastern series are going to a Game 7, but none of the Western series will do so. With a goalie controversy on his hands, Coach Stevens decides to keep riding Thatcher Demko in Game 7 tomorrow, even though Daniel Altshuller has had a better series (despite the injury to Demko, both have played great and with similar time) and Altshuller got all three wins.
4/23 - 6-3 W vs. NYR. The Nordiques hit the gas fast, going up 4-0 in the first period, all in the first ten minutes (the four goals were 5:03 apart). The Rangers tallied one a few minutes later, and the score is 4-1 after one. The Rangers score early in the second, before Quebec quickly strikes. The Nordiques tally another one late in the second and it is 6-2 after two. New York tallied a goal in the third. Quebec goals came from Drouin, Eichel, Ekblad, Guentzel, Marner, and Pastrnak, and assists came from Guentzel twice, Pastrnak twice, Drouin, Ekblad, Marner, Gauthier, Marchessault, and Demko. The GWG was at 7:57 of the first: Drouin from Guentzel and Pastrnak. Kruger gets hurt, and is replaced by Namestnikov at C4 and Carrick at LW4 postgame. QC wins series 4-3, will play winner of WSH/PHI Game 7 on 4/24
4/24 - WSH beats PHI in Game 7.
First Round Results:
East:
QC (M1) wins 4-3 vs. NYR (M5/WC2)
WSH (M2) wins 4-3 vs. PHI (M3)
CBJ (M4/WC2) wins 4-3 vs. BOS (A1)
TB (A3) wins 4-3 vs. TOR (A2)

West:
WPG (C5/WC2) wins 4-2 vs. STL (C1)
NSH (C3) wins 4-2 vs. CHI (C2)
MIN (C4/WC1) wins 4-0 vs. LA (P1)
SJ (P2) wins 4-1 vs. ANA (P3)

Second Round, home ice listed first:
East:
QC vs. WSH
TB vs. CBJ*

West:
NSH vs. WPG
SJ vs. MIN

* TB gets home ice because CBJ was a wild card team moved to the Atlantic, despite CBJ having 97 points to TB's 91. Again, dumb playoff system.

4/25 - Despite the Game 7 win, the goalie controversy intensifies. In 4 full appearances and an additional period and some change, Demko has a 2.12 GAA and .929 sv%, but Game 7 was not his greatest night, and he was the losing goalie in the three losses. Meanwhile, Altshuller, in two full games and a majority of a third game, carried three of the four wins and was brilliant with a .958 save percentage and a 1.14 GAA. Coach Stevens announces that Altshuller will start Game One vs. WSH.

4/26 - Round 2, Game 1: 8-0 W vs. WSH, and Holtby was in net for all eight goals against. 2 goals in the first and three goals in the other two periods. Jonathan Drouin had a hat trick and two assists for a five point night. Jake Guentzel also had five points: a goal and four assists. Mitch Marner had 4 points, with a goal an dthree assists. Jack Eichel had a goal and an assists. Jake Bean and Vladislav Namestnikov also scored a goal each, and Aaron Ekblad, Julien Gauthier, Noah Hanifin, and Jonathan Marchessault each had an assist. Altshuller had a 24 save shutout. QC leads series 1-0
4/28 - 3-1 W vs. WSH. JT Miller opened the scoring, then Noah Hanifin scored the GWG to make it 2-0 in the second period. Hanifin scored again in the third to make it 3-1. Assists went to Marchessault, Liljegren (his first NHL playoff point), Gauthier, Eichel, Marner, and Pastrnak, all one each. Altshuller had 18 saves on 19 shots. Ekblad gets hurt. McAvoy moves to RD1, Liljegren to RD2, and Carrick's stint as a seventh defenseman playing forward ends as he moves to RD3. Nick Suzuki is called up to take LW4. QC leads series 2-0
4/30 - 6-3 W @ WSH. Gauthier 3 goals, Aho, Eichel, Rantanen the others. Marner 3 assists, Eichel and Miller 2 assists each, Fleury, Hanifin, Namestnikov one each, Altshuller 33 saves. QC leads series 3-0
5/2 - 6-2 W @ WSH. Aho, Drouin, Eichel, Miller, Pastrnak, Rantanen the goals; Bean and Marchessault 2 assists each, Drouin, Miller, Pastrnak, Guentzel, Gauthier, Marner, Namestnikov one assist each. GWG reads Miller from Marchessault and Bean at 4:03 of the second. Altshuller 23 saves. QC wins series 4-0
5/3 - Aaron Ekblad will be available for the start of the Eastern Conference Final vs. TB or CBJ at RD1 (TB leads series 2-1). McAvoy RD2, Liljegren RD3, Carrick scratched
5/6 - Round Two ends. QC wins 4-0 over WSH and TB wins 4-2 over CBJ in the East. MIN wins 4-0 over SJ and NSH wins 4-2 over WPG in the West. ECF is QC vs. TB and WCF is NSH vs. MIN; home ice QC and NSH.

5/8 - Round 3, Game 1: 3-0 L vs. TB. 30 saves for Altshuller. TB leads series 1-0
5/9 - Marcus Kruger available for Game 2 at C4. Namestnikov back to LW4, Suzuki scratched. Also, it is announced that Thatcher Demko will start Game 2.
5/10 - 3-1 L vs. TB. 24 saves for Demko on 26 shots, goal 3 was an ENG. Only QC goal was Eichel from Marner and Pastrnak. Jake Bean is hurt and will be out the rest of the playoffs; postgame, Fleury is moved to LD2 and Carrick LD3. TB leads series 2-0
5/11 - Coach Stevens decides to go back to Altshuller for Game 3.
5/12 - 3-0 W @ TB. Pastrnak 2 goals; Guentzel 1 goal and 2 assists; Drouin 2 assists; Gauthier and Marchessault an assist each. 32 saves for Altshuller, TB leads series 2-1
5/14 - 3-0 W @ TB. Rantanen out the rest of the playoffs (Aho RW3, Suzuki RW4). Series tied 2-2
5/16 - 3-2 L vs. TB. Aho and Hanifin 1G/1A each, Miller 2A, Altshuller 28 saves, TB leads series 3-2. Meanwhile, in the WCF, NSH closes out MIN in a 4-1 series win, so the winner of the ECF will play NSH in the SCF.
5/18 - 2-1 OTW @ TB. McAvoy scores in the first, assists to Marchessault and Altshuller. Tampa scores in the third (Kucherov). Then, at 17:40 into overtime, Guentzel scores to force a Game 7, with the lone assist to Pastrnak. Altshuller made 38 saves and had an assist. Series tied 3-3
5/20 - 3-2 W vs. TB and the Nordiques are heading to the Final!!!! The Lightning strike fast in the first, just 2 minutes in, but then Namestnikov (from Kruger and Liljegren) and Marner (from Namestnikov and Ekblad) score 19 seconds apart later in the first to give Quebec a 2-1 lead. Eichel scores the GWG late in the third - at 17:09 - with assists to Pastrnak and Drouin. This is the GWG because with 1:11 left, the Drouin/Panarin trade comes back to haunt. Shea Theodore, who got flipped to Tampa in that trade, scores on the power play with the primary assist to Artemi Panarin with just 1:11 left in Game 7 (the other assist: Brayden Point; Panarin's assist was his second of the game). No less, the Nordiques hold on for the win! Altshuller made 17 saves. QC wins series 4-3

Stanley Cup Final: QC vs. NSH
5/21 - Coach Stevens announces that Altshuller will be the starter in the Stanley Cup Final. Altshuller has a .948 sv% and 1.40 GAA as well as 4 shutouts with 11 wins in 13 playoff GP.
5/22 - Round 4, Game 1: 5-2 W vs. NSH. The Predators score the first two goals, late in the first and midway through the second, but then the Nordiques score four goals in the second after Nashville's second goal (4 goals in 8:12); Quebec added a goal in the third. Goals: Aho, Drouin, Eichel, Pastrnak, Suzuki; Assists: Eichel, Pastrnak, Carrick, Ekblad, Guentzel, Liljegren, Marner, McAvoy. Altshuller had 27 saves. QC leads series 1-0
5/24 - 3-2 2OTW vs. NSH. Miller opens the scoring midway through the second (from Marchessault and Aho); then 53 seconds into the third Nashville ties it. 1:07 later, Aho gives Quebec the lead back (From Ekblad and Hanifin); with 5:50 to go Nashville ties it. The first overtime goes scoreless, and then at 3:49 of 2OT, Ekblad scores from Marner and Eichel to win Game 2. Altshuller 31 saves. QC leads series 2-0
5/25 - Carrick was injured the previous night. Keaton Thompson is called up and will fill LD3.
5/26 - 4-1 L @ NSH. Lone goal is Gauthier from Marner and Eichel, then Marner is injured and will be out for the rest of the playoffs. 33 saves for Altshuller. QC leads series 2-1
5/27 - To take Marner's place, Pastrnak will move to RW1. Marchessault RW2. Aho to LW3. Namestnikov RW3. Matthew Peca called up and will go to LW4. Also, Carrick can play in the next game and he will replace Thompson at LD3, and Thompson is sent down.
5/28 - 3-2 L @ NSH. Goals from Drouin and Gauthier; assists Guentzel, Aho, Eichel, Pastrnak. 34 saves for Altshuller. Series tied 2-2.
5/30 - 2-0 W vs. NSH. Aho and Eichel the goals; assists Drouin, Guentzel, Pastrnak. 29 save shutout for Altshuller. QC leads series 3-2, one win from the Cup!!!
6/1 - 3-0 W vs. NSH!!!! Nordiques win the Cup!!!! The Quebec Nordiques are the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions!!!!! In franchise mode, can you turn morale and team chemistry completely off? It's real stupid having my player's overalls drop 5 points because I sent someone down to the AHL or for "ice time" issues

Yeah it's in the game settings at the beginning, right after you chose a team. I always turn it off, along with owner mode and assistant coach line changes

Has anyone noticed a weird glitch or whatever where an AHL team doesn't play a full season? Like for 2017-18, San Diego only played 68 games instead of 76. I thought maybe it was a coding thing, but the player stats show that they only played 68.

Western AHL teams do not have the same Schedule. They do play 68 games IRL if I'm not mistaken.

It's funny to think about, but I think the Masterton just goes to the player with the most giveaways

That makes no sense, but would be typical EA Sports. I noticed that award is always won by some third pairing defensive D, so you might be right

2017-2018

The Canucks finish 37-40-5, 79 points and 24th overall. The struggling franchise was in a playoff position at the trade deadline (32-24-5), choosing not to trade goaltender Ryan Miller to San Jose for a 2nd round draft pick in 2019. However, the club suffered a number of injuries shortly thereafter and things quickly spiraled out of control, yielding just 5 wins over the final 21 games.

The Utica Comets finished 3rd in their division and went on to the Calder Cup Finals where they lost to the San Antonio Rampage in 6 games.
