It's their 1-3-1. It invites games where you get outshot a lot, but limits the danger. It's surprising to me that they are still doing that after firing McLellan.

They're making the same mistake. They generally start games well and playing more of a pressuring set but then sit back on some when they get the lead. They did it in Vancouver. The game against the Wild the Kings were best as they kept pedal pressed.

He didn't say "they will beat these guys going away and LA should be worried about the pounding coming to them a few weeks from now". That would have been cocky.

He said "Go get it, beat these guys going away. Make them worry about what's happening in a few weeks." That's cheering on his team to set an example today to put doubt in the opponent's mind. Nothing wrong with cheering on your team.

as a kings fan this is very true. When they start good they are electric and fun. Then they get up and just play lock down for the rest of the game. Dangerous game they're playing....especially with relying on an older Talbot.

Working fly in fly out for the last 15 years, I’ve done this a lot with that gas station just east of the parking lot seams so far away from the terminal. Park and turn that way and F%£€!…

Agree. Play the A game and chip away at their confidence….that’s never a bad move.
When LA brings their 1-3-1 game (which usually happens after the anthem), put the puck into Doughty’s corner and bring two fore checkers on him…hard. Should be some loose change to play with.

Not sure this is really that big of a game. Playing Dallas/Vancouver as a wildcard isn’t worse than LA/Vegas really. Playing Colorado in Round 1 would be bad though.

first goal of the game is always so important against LA. They're completely content to turn their 1-3-1 into a 1-4 for 50 minutes if they go up 1-0, and God knows we're not getting more than 2-3 powerplays.
