Not a slewfoot. Manson never moved his foot.
Last night shows the difference in quality between us and other teams. Yes, we played a great defensive game, shut down the top line and all, but truthfully Colorado played about 8 minutes of that game and still came out with a victory. I watched that game and couldn't figure out what the Avalanche were doing for long stretches; it was like they were trying to put in the bare minimum amount of effort into winning. Which, they finally did.
5-2 under Bannister, only one really bad game and then about 2/3rds of one vs. Chicago. Encouraging [best-case right now, we're staring at the 1WC spot and hoping Dallas passes Colorado because that's been a good matchup for us; PP is better at 4-20 (20%), PK is better at 13-15 (86.7% and another SHG)], and yet potentially discouraging [getting toward the playoffs means we could be continuing to try and paper over things for longer; also means we could stay in the mushy middle for longer with high teens draft picks hoping for magic there]. But, there's still half a season to go and lots of time for this to go sideways, and now we'll see how we play when we're missing a key guy in the lineup for a bit.
