Matt Duchene effect.
I'm so glad we got rid of that guy. His 30th goal celebration in a blow out loss was enough for me. Matt Duchene; good for a 35 game slump year in and year out.

What's up with Nashville this season? They are kinda floundering around in a weaker Central. Thought they'd be at the top.
They're 2nd in the central, 5 points from the Blues and 1 game in hand, still technically ahead of Colorado. They are 9-5-2 for 20 points in 16 games, and even after last night, are a +12 on the season, 2nd in the West. They've only played 4 games against the "weaker Central" and are 3-1.

AVALANCHE ESTABLISH FRANCHISE RECORD FOR FASTEST SIX GOALS IN A GAME

The Avalanche scored six times in a span of 8:00 during the second period to establish a franchise record for fastest six goals in a game, eclipsing the previous mark of 8:06 set by the Quebec Nordiques on Feb. 22, 1981 (11-7 W at WSH). Colorado became the third NHL team in the last 20 years to score six goals in a span of 8:00 or less in a game.

The NHL record for fastest six goals by one team in a game is 4:24, a mark set by the Canadiens on Dec. 6, 1982 (11-2 W vs. HFD)

* The Avalanche scored the most goals in a game by any team this season. Colorado recorded nine or more goals in a contest for the fifth time since the franchise began play in Denver and first since nearly 12 years ago on Dec. 9, 2007 (9-5 W vs. STL).

* The Avalanche matched a franchise record for most goals in a period, a feat they have achieved three other times since 1995-96: Dec. 5, 1995 (12-2 W vs. SJS), March 3, 1999 (7-5 W at COL) and Jan. 19, 2019 (7-1 W vs. LAK).

* Joonas Donskoi (3-0—3), one of five Colorado players with three or more points Thursday, scored the first hat trick of his NHL career. Donskoi (8-3—11 in 16 GP), who was signed by the Avalanche July 1, became the 15th player to score a hat trick in his first 16 or fewer games with the franchise – last accomplished by Joe Colborne in his Colorado debut on Oct. 15, 2016 (3-0—3 vs. DAL).

They've always been overrated. They don't have the star power to get it done. I appreciate their ability to ice a solid team from top to bottom, but in a league like this, you need elite players. They don't have any (outside of Josi, possibly).

Did Detroit curse Nashville after their four-goal period earlier, or something?
Meh, it was just a fluke yesterday where Preds just played eight minutes of bad hockey and no goaltending. We all know that Rinne and Saros are great goalkeepers, it just seemed that Avs made one extra talented play leading to a goal.

Maybe people should be talking about Nashville's defense?
Stop trying to make something out of nothing, it was just eight minutes of bad hockey. It happens to every team from time to time.

if you're trying to correct someone at least look it up yourself, if you listen to Mcnab's facts you're bound to be wrong about 99% of the time. The broadcast posted a graphic, here is some proof. Toronto Maple Leafs at Atlanta Thrashers Box Score — January 7, 2011 | Hockey-Reference.com

Never said you were wrong, but the graph during the game showed 05/06 as someone else mentioned above. Sounded wrong for me right from the start that the leafs scored that much that year. Seems like they got it wrong.

Well just about every other game the Avs have made Forsberg look elite.
