Depends, the Yankees got the Marlins to keep 30 million to lower his yearly salary and thus help keep the, under the tax. Dodgers could have done something similar.

Kazmir can rebound and be a solid veteran starter for them, as can McCarthy (but who knows if he'll be healthy). May as well keep them and if they perform well, flip them in July or ST when someones starter goes down.

surprised the dodgers dealt culberson

he really stepped it up when they needed him in the playoffs

this is such an odd trade. aside from culberson and maybe mccarthy, i don't think any of these guys are actually going to play for their new teams

They did have to entice the Braves to take on all that money.

Neither team added payroll. It's just set up where the Dodgers are able to get under the tax line and the Braves drop the contracts quicker and also create a spot for Acuna. Plus, it looks like they're going to use McCarthy as their 5th and Culberson off the bench.
