Zub is a fantastic player. Sure, there was a bit of a dark cloud over his head due to the DJ Dorion era mess but look at this :

Among 206 D-men with at least 300 minutes 5 on 5 :

45th in CA/60
29th in CF%
91st in SA/60
42nd in SF%
61st in xGA/60
32nd in xGF%

Sure, it's not at the top but considering he plays a more defensive role than many of the D-men ahead... Now look at this :

6th in primary assists/60
6th in Points/60
Top-50 PPG among D-men

Since January 11th, among 189 D-men with at least 75 mins at ES, Zub ranks :

- 1st in CF% (8th in CF/60, 5th in CA/60)
- 3rd in SF% (6th in SF/60, 12th in SA/60)
- 1st in xGF% (14th in xGF/60, 3rd in xGA/60)

He's being ELITE right now. Sanderson too, they have probably been the best pair in the NHL of the last 3 weeks.

He plays a really hard game against the other teams best players. He's been playing hurt for a while, that's not glass that's NHL wear and tear when you are playing big hard minutes. He has had some bad luck, hope he can get back for the weekend.

I think it’s a lingering issue that’s bothering him, hope it gets sorted as he is such an important piece on the backend. Keeps Hammer away, so it’s a double win when he gets back.

Im actually interested in seeing what Zubs offensive ceiling is.

Now that the season is lost. The sens can do weird things like inserting him to the first PP to see what he has.

I think he’s very clearly a top 4 D. Maybe not top pairing on a contender, but he doesn’t belong on a third pairing.

A lot of players on this team make more than Zub but he is more valuable than most of them.
