The thing is it's not even hindsight. Drouin is not living up to expectations but even if both guys were to hit their ceilings, the defenseman is always more valuable

Consider what the Habs Top 4 could've been:

McDonagh - Subban

Markov - Sergachev

Thats a pretty good D core, McDonagh and Markov are older but still likely able to play in the Top 4.

Don't worry, games in hand aren't a good thing to have according to Leafs fans, as the Bruins have a much tougher schedule later this season. Apparently the Bruins have already lost all the games in hand.
