Brind-Amour is Bylsma-like in his lack of.. anything. He’s got one way to do it and he will not adjust whether you’re winning or losing or up or down. If you’re down 0-3 in a series in a game it’s just like “well we’re not hammering the square peg into the round hole hard enough boys.” He benefits from having the fans and local media behind him more than any other coach, and a lot of the players. He’s been the right coach for that specific team for a while but he’s otherwise mediocre and would fail in most cities.

His interviews give off a stammering dialogue and nervous energy that probably wouldn’t work in any larger market.

The Oilers really are their own worst nightmares when it comes to crippling their own depth. Tonight they not only once again put McDavid, Draisaitl and Hyman on the same line, but they also play 5 of their forwards under 10 minutes.

They literally do it to themselves and then wonder why the depth doesn't produce.

Drai should walk July 2025, right to Pittsburgh. We have won 3 times. Plus we have the best old guy in the world.

1) Why would he do that?
2) It's not going to be enough to make any sort of difference, especially at $13M+. Draisaitl isn't going to lead this team to a cup, with two 38 year olds as the other best players on the roster.

Shakespeare was right, there is something rotten in the state of Denmark. Freddy Andersen and his Jarry impersonation, to be precise. Reminded me of MAF's too - once that second goal was scored, you just knew more would come and CAR would be in big trouble.

The Oilers often look just as mediocre as the Rags when their power play isn't clicking but don't have the luxury of a goalie standing on his head bailing them out game after game. They have learned to bunker up... but lose most of their attack potency in the process when they do. You have a high octane offense, lean on it and not just by playing McDrai on the same line every time the going gets tough.
