Discuss.

Mangiapane is one of the most underrated draft prospects in the 2015 draft. He has excellent speed and offensive instincts as can be seen as his 104 points. He is small but fearless and has continued to get better as he has grown as an OHL player. Offensively, he is one of the most talented prospects in the OHL and would be an excellent pick in the 4th or 5th round. (Tyler Parchem, EP 2015)

Was just gonna say, doubled his point output from 2013-14 to 2014-15.

Listed as being able to play both LW and C; not that big of a dude, but clearly very offensively talented. Definitely another intriguing pick.

Apparently, a lot of scouts are comparing him to Palat. That seems a bit of a stretch but I'd happily take it.

Assuming that he doesn't bust, could be Byron 2.0 in the NHL which is great value for a 6th.

I mean, if we drafted an 18-year-old 5th rounder and he put up 104 points in his post-draft year, we'd be ecstatic, so...

You know Craig Button is indirectly responsible for our success. He hired his brother, Todd. He hired his replacement, Darryl Sutter. Sutter hired his replacement, Feaster. Feaster was involved in hiring Burke, who replaced him on an interm basis and was ultimately responsible for hiring his full time replacement, Treliving.

So thanks be to Craig.

pretty sure Todd Button was a flames scout before Craig Button was ever part of the organization.

Oh really? I know Craig was hired from Dallas. When Craig was let go, there was some mild debate on whether or not his brother would stay on, I always assumed it was because it was his hire.

I like this . . . Was expected to go in 4th or 5th. Lots of points, small, but not even Gaudreau small. Could be one of those magic picks that turns out and surprises everyone.

Thanks for sharing that. Guys like this and Garland, seem to take a couple of seasons to really "fit" in. Just shows you how impressive and rare Gaudreau always has been at every level.

Other than Andersson and Kylington, I'm most excited about Mangiapane of players we drafted.

This just smells of a great value pick, where if we can develop the kid right he'll have a good chance to play at the NHL level.

It will be tough moving up the depth charts over a guy like Klimchuk but 3 years down the road we may not be able to afford Hudler and that opens up a spot for a smaller young skilled guy to get some call-ups.

Some info on Mangiapane for you.

I had him as the top rated re-entry from the OHL.

Thanks.

I can't believe Appleby went undrafted, I would think a team would have thrown a 7th rounder at him, considering how goaltenders are such a crapshoot anyways and he has championship experience he can fall back on, something even these earlier, younger picks like Blackwood may never be able to claim.

Sign Appleby to an AHL/ECHL deal. Potential back-up in the AHL or starter in the ECHL.

He'll be top dog Barrie next year right?

Had he been eligble for this years draft ie born 4 months and 12 days later. Would he have been a 6th rounder still?
