I'm really not all that pissed about the game. Lot of adversity tonight and it was a game still pretty much until the end. I thought we actually played much better after the initial swell from Dallas.

This is the biggest takeaway. They had a horrendous period but never quit. It's a good sign.

And for the record I'm fine with a little spear to the nuts in retaliation. If this damn team could convert a power play it might not have mattered.

I realize when you read this the game is over because im only in the second on my DVR. But, the following phrase is applicable to the Ducks first goal.

Boner puts the tip in.

For the record I'm not impressed with Etem on the top line. Yes, he streaks down the wing. But he's been no more dangerous or productive than Beleskey was. Put him back down on a line where he'll play lower quality opposition.

Before you go psycho homer on me prove me wrong on his production.

watch out man ducksgo might spear you for talk like that.

I wonder if Holland would be a fit with Getz and Perry?

Who knows? I thought Palmieri looked good there the first 3 games but he was taken off and I have no idea why. They need someone skilled to play with - they haven't had a decent linemate and looked dominant since the 2010-11 season when they played with Ryan. Before that they did fine with Kunitz, Bertuzzi and Penner.

Yeah, that was the big question mark to me, Palmieri was a good fit

Lines I want to see:

Palmieri-Getzlaf-Perry
Etem-Ryan-Selanne
Cogliano-Koivu-Winnik
Beleskey-Bonino-Rakell

Basically just switch Etem and Palmieri, and put Rakell in for Staubitz

I don't think Etem's style matches well with the Twins.

Ryan had 1 shot on goal and generated nothing offensively. The other two were at least noticeable with the puck. It was the top line that had the stars pinned in their own zone for well over a minute in the second period.

the top line has been weak since the first two games of the year...plain and simple.
you can protect Getzlaf's two way game all you want, but if that line doesn't start scoring 5v5 goals we's in trouble...

I agree but it's not like Ryan has been any better than Getzlaf. Ryan who is a consistent 30 goal scorer only has 2 goals on the year. Getzlaf has 3 and leads the team in shots and forwards in ice time.

Understood. But at least Getzlaf's line is able to generate chances and pressure in the offensive zone. I just haven't seen that much out of Ryan's line. Not blaming him for anything, but I don't think he's looked that great at center.

Frustrating, boring game. Bad games by pretty much the entire top 6, except for Getzlaf, I thought he worked pretty hard and had a few decent scoring chances.

Corey Perry has been terrible, and was, once again. He just can't do anything with the puck, and he's been bad without the puck too. He shouldn't be playing on the first line, and he's just dragging Getzlaf down. An elite playmaker can't properly contribute if the guys he supposed to pass to are playing like ****.

That's the thing...He's not the most talented player on this team. Getzlaf and Fowler are more talented than him IMO

good point... I think Getz and perry are better players and Bobby is out playing both some nights.... Fowler? not yet....

Didn't say he Fowler > Ryan, but I think he's more talented. I also think their is an argument that Fowler is better than Bobby. He certainly had more of an impact in his 6 games this season

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a top line of Etem-Getzlaf-Palmieri or something.

I wouldn't mind giving those lines a shot. We could also mix it up completely and go with:

Ryan - Getzlaf - Palmieri
Etem - Bonino - Selanne
Winnik - Koivu - Perry
Beleskey - Rakell - Cogliano

Etem's speed should work with Teemu and Bonino can be the defensive presence on the line. Koivu and Winnik may be able to spark Perry and get him producing. It runs the risk of pissing Perry off but it's not like he's doing much on the top line. That line will still get plenty of TOI.

I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing BB change things a little bit more radically to see if he can spark the top line

2nd line has been shuffled more times than a deck of cards at the Wynn casino... plus Getz has been poaching 1st line PP points

Bobbys everywhere 1st pp 2nd pp center, wing, 1st line 2nd line....different line mates etc etc it makes for a chemistry nightmare... he will be with playing with a tired Teemu the rest of the trip..

food for thought

Hope tonight was a wake up call for our top 6. They cannot rely on secondary scoring to cover up their lack of production on a nightly basis.

Oh and the PP needs some Fowler loving.

To the rescue
That span in the 2nd, when the Ducks controlled the play so completely that they were completing line changes...WOW!!

Pure domination.

If only they could've put forth that kind of effort for a whole 60 minutes, they would've been unstoppable.
