Just got back from the game, first game I've been to in a year.

Things I heard that made me miss live hockey:

  • Someone yell at Pitkanen for making a mistake while he wasn't on the ice
  • Two men entirely ignoring the game, instead choosing to argue over whether or not Brodeur would get a shot on goal on the statsheet
  • A woman behind me showed no emotion the entire game except for abruptly applauding and screaming at a random neutral zone hand pass (this was a new one for me)
  • A man shouting non-rhetorical questions to the players, as if they could possibly hear him and/or possibly respond
  • "Twilight's last Gleason," as if that make any sense whatsoever

I don't know what it is, but this Pitkanen haters at the PNC, are some of teh dumbest people I've ever encountered. And yes, I've witnessed on more than one occasion, them screaming at Pitkanen, while he's on the bench! I sat behind two guys one night, who *****ed and moaned and screamed at him all night long ,even right after he set up someone for a breakaway goal, with a perfect clearing pass. They were *****ing as the Canes were scoring! I had a Pitkanen hater in each section next to mine tonight, yelling stupid **** at him all night...including a few "trade Pitkanen" screams. All while Gleason was laying on his ass swiping his stick at the Devils player that skated by him!

Those idiots who scream during the anthem, i wish they'd choke on a dollar dog! There's a herd of them up around 312 that do it every night.

BTW..with about 12min. left in the 3rd, there was a guy screaming..seemed like he was in section 123 or 124. We all heard it where I sit but couldn't tell what was going on. Anybody know what that was about?

Also, hardest I've laughed in a very long time at one of the guys doing the Ron the Ref games during intermission. It was the Family Feud game, which is arguably the only legitimate one, and the question was "name something that a family takes turns using." Dude buzzes in, SO excited about his answer, and then shouts "POPCORN!" And I gotta say man, being down 3-0 at the 2nd intermission, that was just about the only thing that could've cheered me up. Not even like a little kid, either, this was like a 35 year old guy.

On a related note, it was glorious to see Ron the Ref berate a guy, kick him out of Musical Chairs and question his manhood as he walked out.

I love that Pitkanen is still getting **** on from the Aftermath fanbase.

Although it was pretty funny having Mike M. basically call out the caller trying to pin the entire loss on Pitkanen.

Yeah. I was so happy that he was like "Well, he didn't have a minus tonight. What did you think of Semin's game?"

People are so full of **** when it comes to Joni. It's like they don't even watch the game and just decide to blame it on him. How about blaming Harrison for getting out-hustled on the 3rd goal? Please, dude. Was that Pitkanen's fault? :shakehead

Not sure if it was the same situation, but I know 328 is around the same area and I know there was a loud cry of frustration from a fan there around the same time.

I sit in 124 and only heard the incredibly enthusiastic/don't know when to give up lady yelling. Was getting mildly annoying but then she settled back down.

Not sure what this was. We only heard it once. It was about the time the section over there was trying to get the wave going. Maybe that was what it was. It was during a quiet moment (and there were lots of them this game) and we heard a long scream.

Until the day he retires, or gets traded, Pitkanen is always going to be a whipping boy, even when things go right.

Now that you say that, I vaguely remember that moment. I remember hearing a pretty loud yell when they were trying to get the wave going.

Honestly, I'm beginning to have an awful feeling about trading Sutter for Jordan.

You just felt that tonight?

I mean, he looked good around 3 or 4 games in, and had a solid series of games, maybe a dozen, but has looked more and more like a 3rd line guy since then.

I think we may be *****ing about that contract for a LONG time. Especially if Dumoulin pans out to be a good player!

Like I've said, you change that name on the back of his sweater, and you've got a LOT more people *****ing and moaning about him!

Eh, tonight could have been much worse. Winnipeg lost, Rangers lost, Toronto only got a point. No harm, no foul in terms of the loss.

Plus, the Rangers may be losing Nash for a bit. Absolutely stupid hit on Kolpecky.

So wait, do we hate Jordan or Skinner? Last I heard was we thought Skinner was selfish and the puck dies on his stick, so how do you fault Jordan for playing with him and Dwyer/Wallace/Jokinen?

Or is Jordan going to be the new whipping boy?

We're 30 games into a 10 year contract, and we can already evaluate whether or not he's worthy?

I evaluate players as they stand today. I'm willing to change my mind in the future if he shows me differently. But as it stands today, I stand firm with my statement. But I will admit he is in a little bit of a slump and fully expect him to turn it round.

And, btw, his contract hasn't even kicked in yet.

It's pretty clear jordan can't keep up with skinner. He's not really helping Skinner and lacks the skill to complete anything Skinner tries to create. Sutter had more offensive upside when he was on a checking line than J Staal does when he's on an offensive line playing with Skinner and others.

No whipping boy for me. The entire team is to blame for the recent struggles. It's not the end of the world. I'm just pointing out that what I've seen from Jordan this year isn't any better than what I believe we would have gotten from putting Brandon Sutter in the second line role this year. I don't see Jordan as being worth 4 million more than Brandon either. That's not really Jordan's fault, he is what he is. It's just frustrating to see.

I'm not as worried about Jordan individually as I am about the second line as a whole.

Imagine if we had just traded for Skinner and saw him playing like he has been lately. He'd be getting shredded. But we've seen his talent on display with proper complimentary players, so we know he can be a LOT better than this. I'm willing to give Jordan that same benefit of the doubt unless he shows over the long term that it's more than just a bad line combination.

It looks like the Skinner/Jordan line may have died tonight, so we might find out in short order whether he has a higher gear to offer this team.

I don't think it's dead yet. They were good for a GPG for the first 10-15 games of the season.

One of them is going to have to accept a complimentary role on that line. And that's ok, we have a long, long time for that realization to come...

This may have been right in my row. I was near the ice in 125 and one lady yelled at the top of her lungs for a good five seconds, at what appeared to be nothing.
