I can think of some good winger rentals, but does anyone have some good ideas for a 3C rental? I just think with JFK developing, Frederic and Studnicka on the way, it doesn’t make sense to fill that hole for long and pay too much.

My theory is the Bruins don’t have a top 6 right wing coming any time soon. At least they act like they don’t (I’m all for giving Senyshyn his due). They should move multiple assets to fill this hole for the duration of Krejci’s contract.

Rent the 3C. You don’t want Stud, Fred and JFK to be ready to start taking jobs but your playing a Chris Kelly-Riley Nash type because your paying him for 2-3 more years.

Just a thought.

Some sound logic in this post.

These are some of the centers I've been looking into...

Kevin Hayes
Coyle
Brock Nelson
Eric Staal
Filppula
Marcus Johansson
Brassard
Hanzal
Pageau

Of that group I like Pageau, Like Hanzals game but too injury prone.
If you talk to Ottawa and they agree to deal in division I would look to add Dzingel as well, and Harpur but I like big, mean D and he fits the mold.

My crazy proposal of the week:

Boston: Jakub Voracek
Philadelphia: Torey Krug, 4th round pick

Boston: Brayden Schenn
St. Louis: Danton Heinen, Jakub Zboril, 3rd round pick

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
Debrusk-Krejci-Voracek
Donato-Schenn-Backes?
Wagner-Kuraly-Nordstrom

Chara-Mcavoy
Grzelcyk-Carlo
Moore-Miller
Lauzon

bringing in a maximum amount of cap... using up every penny. we will go into cap hell to make it through the rest of the year and then when the bonuses get paid they will all effect next years budget that is already looking desperate to begin with

moving into next year... your 2 guys both have contracts that need to be paid... will make it necessary to get rid of chara/krejci/backs

are these the 2 guys that make things work for us?

Saw a bit back that Brassard might be available and he hasn't really worked out for the Pens. Maybe he was only available when they were in last place (crazy to think since they are not jockeying for 1st place in the division...)

I agree with the post you quoted, If they trade for Schenn Id want it to be for playing RW to Krejci. Let the 3C be a rental, give Frederic and Studnicka their chance to take it next year.

I would rather have Schenn and Voracek than Keith and Saad like you proposed yesterday.

Trading Heinen and Krug for Voracek and Schenn looks like it adds about 7 million to the cap this year. If they plan on trading Backes then it’s possible, I also think Chara should come in lower if he plays next season.

Now compare that to your proposal where we trade our future number 1 in Mcavoy for a 35 year old defenseman and decent 2nd line wing. That adds $10.5 million to the cap this year and doesn’t even look possible.

So yeah, I do think those two would work for us. I’d sweeten the deal for Voracek if they retained some.

You’re always going to be missing D in the playoffs. It’s the nature of the playoffs and why GM’s try to get 8 deep at the deadline.

It’s also one of the reasons I really hate the idea of losing Grzelcyk.

Depth on defense is important in the playoffs, just as well as is the F depth, which is lacking quite badly rigth now.

I heard an interview with a Pens analyst (can’t remeber who it was) on NHL radio the other day talking about why Brassard isn’t a good fit there. He wants more ice time and PP time which with Crosby and Malkin isn’t gonna happen. I see the same issues here with Bergeron and Krejci

Good deal for Providence. Vaakanainen is returning to the lineup and Goloubef wouldn’t really see much time from here on out. Carey has been really good for Belleville, so I assume that gives Leach some flexibility with his forward group. Also allows more prospects to play with one of Szwarz or Carey at all times. As a result, we should see some production and scoring increases from the likes of Senyshyn, Cehlarik and Hughes.

The guy I want here for years to come is Ferland. He is going to be dealt and if DS can negotiate a long term deal with him prior to the trade I give Carolina anyone they want with the exception of Bergeron, Marchand, Pastrnak or Rask. Everyone else is available to go for Ferland.

He's not the guy who's going to make that 2nd line go consistently(likely), and if you sign him how much money have you left for that top6 Rw?

Sounds like NHL teams value Heinen more than folks here do:

Something around Heinen for Schenn would be great, or Saad.

If it's Schenn the Lw would still have Marchand& DeBrusk in the top6.

I proposed keith and saad 1/2 retained at a cap hit of less than 6 mill they let us send 2 to the minors so around a 4 mill addition to the cap

you have schenn and oracek coming in around 13 mill less krugs 5 mill and heinens 1 so around a 7 mill addition

im sending McAvoy out who will be 6 mill next year so ive accounted for every penny I spent

you are only sending krug and Heinen away who probably are due to make around 9 next year... leaving 4 mill additional cost on the books

maybe you were opposed to my proposal mostly because you didn't read it through and understand it?

How is it so necessary to destroy the good work Sweeney has done with rebuilding the defense so fast?

Have we already forgotten the Trotman test?

Isn't Saad playing RW in Chicago?
