I think that is a great sign, sounds like he is focused on playing, and not worrying about the contract.

Dmitry Manakhov: Could you talk about your arrival? You moved from a capital city to a rather provincial town?

Alexander Semin: It wasn’t a problem for me. It is not my first year in the NHL. Besides, they have everything I need here for living, social life. It’s really the same. Washington is a bit bigger, Raleigh is a bit smaller, but the shops and the restaurants are the same. My girlfriend found Russian stores in the area. We are settled and my mom will come to visit soon.

The girlfriend found some Russian stores, she's sold. Plus every time I see her she looks happy. Most of the wives/girlfriends don't even smile, but she does. And it's all about keeping the woman happy, right

You'd be surprised, Dave. When I took my comparative legal systems class in grad school, our prof required that for our final presentations we bring in food from the country that our final presentation was on. One of the guys in my class had, IIRC, Serbia or Bosnia, and was successful in finding a Balkan grocery in Cary somewhere. If we've got Ethiopian and Czech restaurants and Balkan groceries, I wouldn't be surprised a bit by a Russian store.

Not just your standard Southern white/black/Hispanic diversity, but also the number of people from Europe and Asia, and how developed those communities have become in a relatively short period of time. There are much bigger cities than Raleigh that don't have a full-scale Indian grocery store or a large Asian fresh market.

To steer this slightly back on topic (before I give a Chinese recommendation to Dave) this is one of the reasons why I find Belanger's alleged whining about disliking Raleigh because he was not able to find a French-speaking community BS. It's certainly there and I've met more French natives here than I'd have imagined.
