I would assume Holtz would be part of any package that went out the door to secure Gibson or Hellebuyck.

The backups on Anaheim looked to have similar numbers to Gibson. Maybe he started mailing it in at some point but he didn't stand out in any way.
I’d say he gave up some nights. He’d routinely see 40-50 shots a game and lots of breakdowns. I think he’s a decent goalie stuck on a horrible team but at this point I don’t think he’s much of an upgrade on Vitek and his contract is not great even with max retention.

Still shocked that Grier didn't want Holtz.

Glad he didn't.

If you looked at their prospect pool, winger wasn’t a need (it typically isn’t). They didn’t have any defensemen like Muk (high upside, offense, size). He made a lot of sense for them.

They actually had a pretty big hole at LHD in their system, which they improved even before the draft by getting both Muk and Henry Thrun’s signing rights from Anaheim in February .

Well whatever their reasoning was (valid or not), I'm glad things worked out where we kept Holtz.

We need to see what we have in him.
