A gutsy effort by the Canucks after going down 4-1. Raty has been a beast in this game with a goal and an assist, But it's his work at both ends of the ice that stands out.

So it's on OT. Abbotsford at least has a margin for error. It's sudden death or Colorado.
Really hope Raty makes the team next season.

Colorado takes it early in the first OT period. On to the deciding third game on Sunday.

Like, three or four goals and several penalties there was an audible “awwwwww” or “rrraaaaahhhh” from the colour guy. Insane homerism.
It got worse than that when it came to picking the three stars......all three selections were from Colorado.

Whoever picked them was colour-blind.....Raty was the best player on the ice for either team.

Had to rub my eyes......47 saves in 48 shots by Sawchenko, and wasn't even voted the first star in the building.

Looked up Sawchenko on Hockey DB. Four years with Moose Jaw in the Dub and then two years playing goal for the University of Alberta. And then a four year journey through the ECHL and AHL.

And in the past two years with Abbotsford, he played six games last year and just three games this year.

Almost as unlikely a win on the road as the Canucks in Nashville. So happy for Baby Canuck fans in the Valley. They'll actually get some home playoff dates.

The Colorado announcers are absurd homers - the dude sounded like he was reading the newspaper on Wouters’ overtime series winner. Not surprised at all that they snubbed Sawchenko in the stars.

Whatever, they can go home now. Abbotsford has the Ontario Reign up next. Pretty sweet for Abbotsford’s first ever player and their captain to get a series winner in OT.

Does Abbotsford catch a break with their second round match-up vs the Ontario Reign? With Dustin Wolf back with Calgary, they might be stronger than Ontario (that late-season success vs Calgary notwithstanding).

ontario is the la kings farm team. they will have all their players back from the nhl by the time the series starts.

Good point, though it won't be true for at least the first game of the series. Abbotsford and Ontario begin on Wednesday, which is also when LA and Edmonton play next.

In another weird bit of AHL scheduling, it looks like the second game in the Abby series goes on Sunday (!)

The only player they could get back would be Jordan Spence, everyone else would have to clear waivers to go down and I don't see him being papered down like Podz was on the 8th. I'm not an expert on those types of rules though.

Next series with Ontario is a best-of-five, so a little larger margin for error. But more importantly, it gives Abbotsord's younger players another kick at the can in terms of valuable playoff experience.

Prospects like D-Petey, Raty, Sasson and McWard can only benefit. Looks like they'll have to ride Sawchenko for awhile. Tolopilo and Silovs are still up with Vancouver. And now with Demko and DeSmith both banged up, they could be up for awhile,
