Would love to see him getting the same treatment Larkin got as a rookie. Play Danielson with Larkin and Raymond, and have Kane and DBC on the second line 👌🏻

No they don't.
Who, the massively only offense Savoie? Yager? Firkus?

One to one, give me Nate over any of those guys.
Yeah, I'm mostly speaking in regards to offense. At the NHL level I would rather have Danielson for his 200 foot game, but at the WHL level those three guys are going to overwhelm most teams. Danielson can't play 60 minutes. The fact he is only ending up even or -1 in most of these blowouts is a testament to his play.

What goalie doing
I'm reminded of a few Athanasiou goals. That move seems to be more effective than it looks. (And Danielson almost loses control of the puck, making him be more patient. I bet he shoots it earlier and the goalie is in good position if he doesn't fumble it)

Having been on the Matt Savoie and the Riley Heidt trains because I wanted an offensive dynamo, it great to see Danielson right in the mix offensively with both of them this playoff so far. Getting a big, strong, two-way, do-it-all Center, who can also put up points when asked to is going to be tremendous for us

I hope Danielson's performance this playoffs quiets some of his haters. Notice he is the only Winterhawk in the top 10 in scoring.

And he is doing it while also playing on the other half of the ice, which is something most of that top 10 can't say.

The guy has the potential to be an absolute stud at the NHL level and I think a lot of teams that picked top 8 are going to kick themselves for passing on him. He might only be a 60-70 point guy but he tilts the ice.

Edit: I hate to say it but I kind of hope MJ finishes the sweep today so that he can go to Grand Rapids.

At this pace, it's Grand Rapids for him next season. If he can translate that game over and play well, I see him in Detroit either sometime next season or 2026. He's looking really good, I'm very excited about this kid.

As I said earlier in the season he has a pro-style game so while he may not put up crazy numbers his ability to generate similar numbers at a pro level is going to translate at a more even number than some of these guys putting up crazy numbers but playing a more standard junior style no d game.

Playoffs vs regular season is another great example. While the games have gotten tighter he is still producing at a very similar level to what he was doing in the regular season. 1.35 v 1.46 on the WH and 1.0 on WK.

And as you noted he is the only one in top 10, the only one over PPG, and has 7 more points the next highest scorer on his team.

I really think he has the potential to be a PPGish (65-85pt) center at the NHL level. I also would not be surprised to see him make the Wings out of camp next season depending on what Stevie does in the off season.

Hehe, that was Yager he walked on that goal by the way. Sure not Yager's strong suit, but still makes me smile.

Please don't slow play this guy Stevie, he is ready to make an impact right now.

Largely overlooked traits in Danielson - for a 19 year old, he's a strong ass player with excellent balance. With that, he also leverages his ability to gain body positioning on virtually any player, and wins a great amount of battles and turnovers because of it. Couple in his first steps/speed/edges, and I think he's really a coaches dream.

Not to mention, his zone entries are deadly when you factor in how he distributes the puck off to a winger and will open up the lane right down the middle and take away sticks.

He's been dominating these playoffs in a way that special players do on their own. Moose Jaw has Savoie, Mateychuk, Yager, and Firkus, all of which are highly revered NHL prospects and three of which are top 15 drafted. Danielson is not surrounded by such a supporting cast, but he's still doing it all 200 ft up and down the ice. He's special man!

Bergeron 2.0 would fit perfectly with the identity the team is building…

Are you equating Nate's skills to Burger's? If so, you are wildly misleading yourself. Nate's calling card is of a 200 foot player who has lock down defensive skills. Burger's only has D in his calling card when it comes to grading how well he checks or actually plays defense.

Well, it is GR or the NHL for him next season (no way he is going to the ECHL). His game translates so well at the NHL level, and he was so good in camp last year AND the need is so great at center I believe Nate is on the opening day roster in Detroit.

Getting closer to joining GR

Yep. They lost in OT and are down 0-3 in the series. Hoping for a Canes like comeback and a Staal like performance from ND.

I don't believe Danielson is the guy , like Larkin or Datsyuk could take over the game, put team on his shoulders and that's ok , he still be good.

It's honestly on you if you're interpreting any of that as "complaining".

It's a fact that Portland's highest drafted player next to Danielson was picked at 100th and Moose Jaw has three top 15 picks and a guy selected 35th that scored 61 goals and 126 points. Hence, probably a big part as to why the series is 3-0 Moose Jaw. Portland just doesn't measure up clearly and they are outmatched. Danielson has 6 more points than his next closest teammate this playoffs. Again, those are facts, not slights.

Judging by your lack of support for the player for whatever reason it is, makes it seem like you want him to fail just to be able to dunk on the optimists here (or rather, people that actually watch him play and follow him). :dunno:
