Watching BC-BU from last night and didn't realize he was a Canes' draftee. According to CapFriendly they still hold his rights even though he was drafted in 2019.

According to the announcers he leads the country in blocked shots.

Always tough to project pure defenders but seems intriguing.

His size is intriguing. but his skating and lack of offensive projections make him an unlikely contract receiver

yeah figuring out the rights due to the Covid season with the NCAA eligibility rules is a bit weird. There's a shot he gets a contract after the season if the Canes get their affiliate situation ironed out (IE: they buy a team and are the sole affiliate), but as of now I'm not expecting we sign him. Never know though.

Guessing, but might be a case of CBA 8.6 (c)(1): was drafted in 2019, became a college student only in 2020 (presumably prior June 1st), assumably is scheduled to graduate in 2024, and thusly will have his rights held by Canes until this summer.

If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time
of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student
prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft, and
remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college
class, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive right of negotiation for
his services through and including the August 15 following the graduation
of his college class. The Club need not make a Bona Fide Offer to such
Player to retain such rights.
