when I see stats like that I like to see a breakdown of ages and the % of those who had pre-existing conditions and what algorithm was used to decide upon the stats

OP article indicated that they selected the influenza strains for the flu shot poorly so that a number of folks did get sick that had shot. (It's a bit of a crap shoot to pick in say March what strains to include in the shot given in the fall.)

Didn't read CDC article closely enough to see if there were any stats on flu shots (vs non-injected).
