Good for the defense. Loved the larsson goal. The fact that he is breaking through in his 4th season is a huge bonus for this organization. remember earlier this year most people wanted his head for being a bust...

He finally looks like he did when he first came into the league as a rookie again. Pete REALLY derailed him. The shackles have come off and he and the team are reaping the benefits.

this win put us back on the ventilator

though if Boston loses to Calgary on Thursday (in regulation) and we beat Columbus, the wide eyed playoff optimists will be out in force.

We got this. Only need to win 18 more games.

Actually -I think 14-4 will do it. That said, we've got lots of tough games and lots of creampuffs.

If I call it now, I think we go 11-5-2 or something like that... just enough to ruin draft position and come in 9th.

14-7-3 since Jan2 though. That ain't gonna get it done, but it's nice.

not quite in my opinion he was nowhere near as solid then as he is now... he is developing into what he was projected slowly but surely ... now when he is on the ice i almost have that andy greene feeling that nothing bad is gonna happen defensively since he is out there

It has been so much fun watching our young d grow. Makes me very excited for our future.

wish we had a few forwards sprinkled in .......josefson is turning a corner though...at least as far as proving he belongs in the NHL

i would we have to win another 3 in a row from this point to get excited....

can anyone go back and look at the 1988 team's run to the playoffs... i think they won like 9 out of their last 10 to get in how many pts back were they ?

There was no luck to go up 2.

They just outplayed Nash early on.

and other than most of the second the game was not tilted it was obvious that nashville was told to shoot more in second and third a large majority of their shots were low percentage outside shots that schneider was handling easily devils earned that win ....again schneider was a rock but he didn't steal that one

Our miracle playoff hopes rest solely on Schneider and scoring by committee. But mostly just Cory.

Yep, I hope he gets recognized by the league and our fanbase by year's end.

That second period was just wow...

I acknowleged how great Rinne and Price are playing. But this team is 27-27-10 and he's willing them to victories.

Glad he's getting some PP time. Has looked pretty good in that spot as well, especially confident along the half boards. Still would like to see him get more es time.

Certainly he is better now. More solid in all three zones. But he was closer to this level when he broke into the league as a rook than he was for the entire rest of Petes reign.

I think his play was so limited during that time period, between healthy scratches, time in Albany, injury, and toi, that I can't really say his play has dramatically increased.

I mean, yes, the consistent ice time has helped him get in a flow, the confidence is absolutely a big thing, but I don't agree with the idea that he was playing poorly during that time between his rookie year and when Pete was fired.

I don't either. I think he was playing relatively well. Just not quite as well as when he first came into the league or now. Confidence has a whole lot to do with it. Not getting unfairly punished for every tiny mistake has a lot to do with it as well.

The team is worse now than when PDB was in charge. But, that being said, I think this is a case of taking one step back for two steps forward.

Just how do you figure that?

Nowadays when the Devils have a lead in the 3rd period, It's no longer a certainty they give it up like it was with Pete and his system.

I'll admit, you're right. Poor choice of words by me. I'd say it was worse for a while when he was fired. We're more likely seeing the "two steps forward" part now.
