Crosby, OV and Malkin have clearly locked down the #1 to #3 positions. I think the #4 spot is between Thornton, Kane and Datsyuk.
He's also only played 3 seasonsLook I'm no Oilers fan but McDavid is on a different level than everybody in this league
People who refuse to acknowledge that make me laugh
are people seriously forgetting lidstrom? He was a top player until he retired.
What? How is that debatable?I'm also laughing at the idea of Malkin definitively being above Datsyuk and Thornton. But hey, it's a Daver thread.

How/why is Kane a shoe-in to this discussion? He only had two really good years, and right now it certainly seems that he rode Panarin’s dominant two-way coattails more than the other way around. There are a considerable number of players (i.e. Lidstrom, Karlsson, Sedin) that I see as clearly ahead of him, and a very long list of guys that are at least on his level (i.e. Stamkos, Doughty, Chara, Perry, St-Louis). Same applies to Datsyuk, to a lesser extent.

In Datsyuk's best season, Malkin still got more Hart votes. Playoff resumes aren't close.
And what's the case for Joe T. over Malkin?
