A couple things i noticed from being at the game last night (btw there were a lot more Devils fans in the stands than i thought there would be):

- Jagr's line seemed to be the only line that really created anything and have the most energy. Still think Cammy was robbed of two of his shots and Jagr himself was just a beast on the ice (for the most part).
- Patty's line didn't seem to create much.
- Same with rico's line. Ryder was invisible, Clowe was playing it safe (makes sense) and Henrique just seemed off again.
- As for the 4th line, they also didn't really do much. Tootoo has some good hits, gio hustled and Ruutu was ok.
- Defense: Severson looked like the only good Dman in the game. Got excited when he scored the second goal and was hoping he would have a hat trick.

I had hope in the first two periods that the Devils would come back and win but the third was just a disaster and just blew up in their faces. They couldn't get the puck out of their own end, which was frustrating, nor could they get some good passes going.

All in all, the team as a whole looked gassed and tired. Could tell they didn't have the same energy as the previous games. I hate to say it but the Caps were the better team last night and they looked determined to win.

We played well enough to beat the Caps, so I'm not concerned in the least about that loss.

- 2 times Cammy gets robbed on stellar saves by Holtby.
- Patty crossbar
- Ryder post
- 2 Cory softies.

The game could've just as easily been a 6-4 win.

Team is encouraging to watch, especially considering these first 4 games were on the road.

Caps played a solid 2nd period, for that I'll give them credit, but they were very fortunate to be tied going into the 2nd, and a couple fortunate bounces sealed the deal early in the 3rd. I'd imagine it'd be tough to replicate having 4-5 shots go off the post and in again for them, as I'd imagine it would be tough to score 4 goals on point shots like the Devils did against the Panthers. Hopefully the Devils get back to their game tomorrow against the Sharks.

Exactly. One night Holtby is good old Holtby and Sharks light him up. Against us he is Vezina-****ing-Hasek.

What is important is all the smart plays we made. That passing by 1st line and Jagr failing to tap it in. Ryder's and everyone's play. On a different night we wouldve scored 6 too, and on a different night those 4 Pejorative Slured shots that Cory let in, wouldnt have gone in. Im still very optimistic, lets see how they rebound against Sharks.

Not that I'll be there, but I would much rather this kind of thing happens on the road, so that the home opener we can see how well they respond. With that in mind, it would be wise to keep the same lineup in my perspective because we can see how the players respond to a loss.

Also I just don't think Larsson can easily replace Gelinas. For the little amount of time Gelinas gets, he seems to be making the most offensively out of it he possibly can, and hes a legit threat on the PP. He looks like he is on the upswing to being a top 4 defenseman. Way smarter in his own zone, just needs to execute when he decides to make a choice (i.e that Mike Brown hit that led to the goal.)

They're going to work Schneider pretty hard in the early going. It's probably the only reason they have Kinkaid in the minors. In November the schedule gets pretty tight, I bet we'll see the back up play more then.

Lots of back to backs.

November is looking to be a very long month. I wonder how many games Cory/Clemmi will split. Could end up being a disaster or an amazing showing for Clem.

That first goal by Ovechkin, did it look like Greene's skates was hit by somebody's stick? He stumbled for no reason and it was on Ovechkin's stick after that.

Havlat was actually taken out by the Referee's elbow. He's not practicing today and there is no update on his condition from the Devils.

The penalty killing was one of the few positives of this game.
