WAYBACK MACHINE

TONIGHT’S GAME

- The Bruins visit the Lightning tonight in the 4th and final game between these teams this season and the 2nd of 2 this season at Amalie Arena … The Bruins are 37-23-7 overall and are 22-7-4 on the road … They are 15-8-2 vs. Atlantic Division teams and are 27-12-4 vs. Eastern Conference opponents.

- The Bruins are concluding tonight their 10th of 12 sets of 3-games-in-4-nights … They enter tonight’s game 4-3-3 in the 1st game, 5-3-2 in the 2nd and 5-3-0 in game 3s.

- The Bruins also conclude their 9th of 11 sets of back-to-back games this season … They are 6-2-1 in the 1st games and 4-3-1 in the
2nd games so far.

- This is the 22nd time since the Panthers began play in 1993 that the Bruins have played in Florida and Tampa Bay on consecutive nights, including both road series this season … They have a cumulative record of 15-6-0-1 in the 1st games and 8-11-2-0 in the 2nd games of those series, including consecutive 3-1 wins earlier this season (Oct. 30 in FLA and Oct. 31 in TB) and last night’s 5-4 OT win in FLA … There have been another 14 occasions when they faced those teams in consecutive road games, but not on consecutive nights.

BOSTON vs TAMPA BAY, LIFETIME SERIES

- The Bruins and Lightning are meeting for the 89th time in their franchise histories with the Bruins having a 55-23-9-1 record and 295-229 scoring advantage in those games.

- The Bruins are 22-17-3-1 in their 43 road games of this lifetime series with a 129-126 scoring edge in those contests.

- The Bruins are 11-3-1 in their last 15 games vs. the Lightning, including a 6-3 loss in Boston on Oct. 12, 3-1 win in Tampa Bay on Oct.31 and 4-1 loss in Boston on Feb. 28 in the 1st 3 games of this season’s series, and they are 15-5-1 in their last 21 games overall vs.Tampa Bay … The Bruins are 4-1-1 in their last 6 visits to Amalie Arena.

Fun Fact: The Lightning are 1 of 3 teams (Ottawa, Philadelphia) who have never swept the Bruins in a season series.

I think we could see Tuukka. The Bruins play in Carolina on Thursday, so my guess is Gus would get that start.

The Carolina game is at TD Garden.

I think they HAVE to play Tuukka tonight given what the game means for seeding. The team is no longer concerned about making the playoffs but who they might play in the first round.

That game 7 vs TB in 2011 was one of the greatest hockey games I've ever watched.

Thomas & Roloson were insane in goal, absolutely insane.

It was perhaps as close to a perfect hockey game any of us will ever see. Don't forget not a single penalty was called either.

That's right, the whistles were kept in the refs' pockets. Today's refs should study this game. That game had everything- up & down action, hits & great passes to go along with the goaltending.

I was at MaineHockey1's house for the weekend. We were going nuts during the game and when Horton fired the puck past Roloson we just exploded with joy- the Bruins were going to the Cup Final!!!!

Best game I have ever been to and I have been to all the finals games in 2011 and 2013.

Those minutes between Horton scoring and the final buzzer, my lord.

Hopefully the Bruins strategy of conserving their energy after the 1st period last night pays off tonight.

I understand the urgency to win tonight, but I have got to think they play Goose after Rask had something like 43 saves last night. He had to do way too much work last night to play him 2 in a row.

Couldn't agree more. I had a hockeygasm all the way through it. No penalties, great goaltending at both ends, up and down straight up hard hockey. Freakin loved it.

Hands down best game I have ever attended in my life. Place was absolutely electric after the Horton goal. Unreal experience being there in the 5th row with my dad, Stamkos walked right by us after he got hit in the face.

Really hope the guys can get back to full game efforts after squeaking out an unbelievable horrible to watch performance after the first last night.

I got my 2/4 points on this trip, anything tonight is a bonus.

I think Gus won in Tampa this year as well, may as well roll the dice again.

Tuukka shouldn't start tonight, he faced 51 shots yesterday. They need to trust Gus or Rask will be completely burned out in the playoffs. Also, Rask's career sv% against Tampa isn't great, although he has a pretty good win-loss record.
