[FIELDSET="QUOTES TO NOTE"]

I do know that we built an identity for ourselves and teams understand that they can’t afford turnovers against us.
So they’re getting it in and forcing us to come the full length. They’re making us do what we want to force teams to do, which is defend.
Teams are ready for us. They’ve adjusted. Now we have to.
- Derek Stepan

It comes down to one misread and one bad bounce, and that’s the difference.
- Henrik Lundqvist

I do think there were portions of our last games that we have been spending a little too much time in our own zone.
We’re gonna take a look at it and try to fix it.
- Alain Vigneault

Once upon a time, Henrik Lundqvist started playing great again. The end.

Cool, I can watch this game before work.

...probably not a good thing on second thought.

Also, would be nice if Zucc stopped sucking. He's got 1 goal in his last 12 games and 2 points in his last 8. That's ****ing abhorrent.

Stepan hit the nail on the head and it's what I've been saying for weeks could happen to this team.

Hockey is more than just good/bad play, it's also a chess match of strategy. That's where good coaching becomes important.

All I seem to do lately is subtract the 9th place points from our points total. Then divide it by 2 to see how many games up we are and worry. That's my generation's Corsi. Let's win !

Great, another game in which we'll most likely be dominated in shot attempts and possession.

Our record is better than we are, I think most people would agree.

We'll make the playoffs but I'd be surprised if we kept this pace up. I don't see us reaching 100 points.

Our (their, lol) cumulative shot attempt differential since AV took over is almost back to 0, after reaching nearly +600 in early 2015.

Don't - missing two top players and one or two other hurts. This makes second liners into first liners, third liners into second liners, etc. Also exposes our mediocre defense except for McD and Skjei. It's why Stepan and Zucc aren't doing well, they're not first liners.

Still think we'll be fine later in the season, our depth will hopefully allow us to get another top defenseman as a rental or a trade (Zuuc + pick + prospect for a guy like Trouba), which will make us contenders.

Great, another game in which we'll most likely be dominated in shot attempts and possession.

That was going to happen anyway since the Canes have usually been a better fancy stats team than the Rangers.

Nothing different was going to happen. I don't think any team has lead in shot differential and possession stats in every game over the course of an 82-game season.

There is a difference between getting dominated by teams that usually have strong fancy stats, and getting dominated by teams with weak fancy stats. One is expected to happen.
