Followed by Khazheyev for me in that order
I really struggle with comparing goalies to skaters but I don't necessarily disagree here. Khazheyev's play has definitely been extremely encouraging and he has the physical traits you look for in a potential elite goalie, but it's just so soon to have any clue what he may become. I think I'd hold off getting too excited about him until we see his success translate at least to the VHL, and eventually the KHL.

Other recent Russian goalies to make the NHL had graduated from the MHL well before Khazheyev... Pyotr, Sorokin, Shestyorkin were all KHL/VHL regulars by like 18. Khazh will turn 20 around the start of next season and he has just 1 VHL game to his name so far. Of course development isn't linear, just pointing out a few things I've noticed. Khazh has certainly been incredible in the MHL and is a very exciting goalie prospect, just goalies are voodoo..

I just noticed that we don't have as much going on with defensemen in the NCAA as it feels like it has been in years past. I feel like we used to take more swings with 3rd-5th round picks on NCAA Dmen without a ton of offensive upside. I think we've spent more of that draft currency lately on Euros, particularly Russians.

We do have Morrow who is a very good prospect but beyond that it was just Fensore and CA-Legault, no?

Not signing Weber ??? He has great size and is the top defender on the best team in the NCAA.

Weber doesnt have much of a NHL chance. His skating isnt great and he provides little to no offense, even in a higher scoring league like the NCAA.

executive decision but I'm going to notate that Koivunen was tied for 6th in voting at the time of the trade after this round even though Blake is clearly going to win now. It was dead even when I checked last night before everything was finalized.
I mean, I'd just take the guys we traded out they're not relevant any more

I was going to say they need to be a 6A/6B in rankings so that in the future people can see how close or stoopid they were and we can either celebrate when Koivunen flails or mercilessly curse when he turns into Finnish Kucherov!!

Koivunen actually was ahead when I changed my vote.
