This tournament needs a marquee kind of city to make it attractive to NHL players to come on what would otherwise be their time off. Places like Prague for example. Or Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, Vienna, Cologne, Zurich, Oslo etc. These are the kinds of places you could take your family with you too over the month of May and it would be a pretty attractive proposition.

Why isn't Finland attractive to NHLers. Too close to Russia? Finland is now under NATO protection. We are 100% safe.

Nordic countries are socialist. 60% of income goes to taxes. Maybe that's the reason? Or Finnish females tend to be grossly overweight these days. I don't know.

As a Finn. I would rather choose Prague than Helsinki. So there's that.

Winning WCH ain't easy.
USA has got their 1960 Olympic gold medal as their 2nd WCH gold medal. So USA has got 1 or 2 gold medals in WCH. Plus 9 silvers and 9 bronzes. Depending how you count them.

Another year, another year of the US being listed as the favorite although it's been 74 years since they finished second in the World Championship and 91 years since they won it.
Never really understood how come the US keeps choking in the semifinals.

Almost the same shit every year while having the quality for the final. :D Well, one day they will break it.

The players love our beer.. their wives love our city.lol.

This one does feel like a pre covid tourney with some names. I love it.

I believe it doesn´t get much better than a WCH in Czechia. I enjoyed our in Košice, yet Praha is simply a different level.

Moreover, Moravsko - Slezský kraj has a lot to offer as well. Amazing wine yards and its landscape.

I obviously have a bias but Brno games to World's in Pragues is just absolutely magical for me! I hope we eventually start doing the double with Bratislave tbh. That way Prague and Bratislava get it 2 years in a row. Like Finn's and Swedes did.

I can't recall any Team U.S.A going into this tournament being listed as the favourite in my time but based on the rosters that have been named so far they certainly are being looked on as that this year and they should be.

Having said that this is a hard tournament to win, they will have to get it done on the ice, far from a sure thing.

Not even the 2019 US WC roster, the last US roster, which was a great showing of good NHL players, do I remember the fans or media saying the US roster came in as favorites.

Never have I seen the US come in as favorites at the WC.

Yeah, I've never witnessed it in my time and I've been watching this tournament since 1977. They have had a few teams that were well regarded but favourites? no.

I agree with both above.. but the us have sent some very strong rosters over the years before covid. Some posters act like the US only sends NCAA players but that is not the case. Pre 2020... There were some gorgeous rosters.

Ftr.. US have been a very consistent team the last few skodas. I do currently have them as my fav this year... But I have yet to see the rest of Canada's roster. Or Sweden's. Or Finn's. Or Swiss who may have Josi soon.

Ok Helsinki is fine too, but the more examples I cite the more obvious the left-outs will be. I can safely say war or not, Minsk likely isn't on most people's travel radar, especially an NHLer basically checking in for work there on their month off.

I see US as the favs.
I see Canada is being the favs once they add a few more guys officialy (and that could include some very good players!).
Swedes have a lot of great pieces and could easily win it too

That's the gold tier IMO

Finn's can always win gold but, this time, I'll put them with the Czechs for Tier 2 (medal hopefuls).

Tier 3 (can easily medal if things go well)
Slovakia, Swiss and Germany

I cannot see anyone else causing a stir so watch Latvia medal again (which would be great)!

Best goalies - Czech
Best forwards - US
Best D - US
Not anymore it’s not :naughty:

Well, now I really hope Canada can get few exceptional pieces otherwise it seems like two teams traffic this year.
With Czechs, Canada, Swiss and Finland fighting for bronze.

I'll update my prediction (don't worry, it'll change again)

US
Sweden
Canada

I'd be legit happy for US tbh. I obviously hope they play each other, have slow starts and Czechs sneak in a medal :)
