Gates has to be a lock. 2nd ever tight end to catch 100+ TDs and is currently the all time leader for tight ends with 116. Same with Peppers given he's 4th on the all time sack list.

I'd go

Gates
Peppers
Freeney
Allen
Holt
Hester (especially with the art of kick/punt returns seemingly becoming almost extinct with rule changes)

Quite a few guys on that list are surefire HOfers (Wayne, Andre, i'd argue Willis) but they likely have to wait.

Gradishar should be in. So should Eric Allen.

Almost all of those guys belong in.

Peppers and Gates should get in, for the other 3 spots this year, give me: Freeney, Anderson and one of Holt/Johnson/Wayne.

Holt's been waiting the longest, but Johnson was probably the best of the 3.

I'd go with Gates, Peppers, Willis, Allen and one of Holt/Wayne/Johnson this year.

Gradishar should be in.
Someone on the committe had a wild hair up his ass about not letting him during his original eligibility. Said something about the Broncos padding his stats.

Will be nice to finally see the Orange Crush get their due.

Don’t get how defensive players ‘pad stats,’ was he supposedly out there in blowouts hawking for interceptions or something?

Pretty absurd argument

Reminds me of the argument against Mongo during his initial eligibility. He was penalized for playing on great D with other HOF players.

Never heard anyone use that argument against Steelers, Cowboys or 49er players up for eligibility

Holt has to get in this year. Wayne and Johnson will get in soon enough, but usually the WR list is all about who’s been waiting the longest (with exceptions) so he has to. He absolutely deserves it.

i agree about holt, but it's not easy to get in as a WR. tim brown had to wait years before induction

I'm not a fan of Hester getting in already. Special teams players should be on the ballot for more then 3 years especially when guys like Torry Holt and Patrick Willis amongst others have been waiting longer. Nice to see Mongo get in though.

hester ahead of holt and gates is......interesting. he's deserving of induction but there's some more deserving guys who should've gotten in first

As a return specialist, who did both kicks and punts, there was never going to be a good time to put Hester in compared to the field. May as well just do it since he’s the only one who is ever going to get in.
