Wonder if we sign Berg now that North Dakota is out. Bridgeport for all the lack of prospects is seemingly going to get an influx of kids next year. Jeffries, Gill, George, Odelius maybe? , Berg maybe? I wonder if we will be in on any of the bigger free agents in college. Gaber, Jaxson Nelson who fit isles character/leadership requirements.

If I had to make a guess, I think Berg finishes his career out at UND. I have no real insight, other than I remember hearing that North Dakota was Berg's dream school. So I'd think that perhaps he stays for his senior year and gets his degree.

That would honestly be better for the Islanders, Bridgeport’s going to be very crowded next year even if they will once again lack high end talent.

I was thinking that once Bridgeport is over, it'd be nice to see as many guys as possible sent to Worcester for the playoffs. Kuefler, Sevigny, Jefferies, Kopperud, etc.

Then I looked at where Worcester is at and they're out of a playoff spot (9th in the east) with 6 games to go. They have 3 games against Maine (11th in the east) and then three in Trois-Rivieres (8th in the east).

Looks like their fate is completely in their hands, but only two of the games are at home.

Man, would it be really crappy if all three teams miss the playoffs...

BPort is already out for sure.

***
- Blade Jenkins leads Worcester in scoring with 50 points in 50 games.
- Reece Newkirk hasn't played much, but does have 5-4-9 in 10 games.
- Pivonka has hit the 20-goal mark and has 39 points in 54 games.
- The team lost 9-3 to Newfoundland the other night. Ouch!

Anyone down there showing potential NHL down the line? You know I've been talking Christian Krygier was my long shot candidate to make an impact as a shutdown defender. How's he looked?

Maggio. Dufour. Salo if Lou is willing to give him another chance.

Can’t say Iskhakov because he is inconsequential during 5 on 5 play.

Really? 13 of his 45 points on the PP with only 3 goals of his 17 goals on the PP - that still leads them in points and goals - not to mention averaging almost 3 shots on goal

Well, Krygier has only gotten into 25 games in the ECHL. Had 9 points over that time. Then he got hurt.

Sure as heck can't be worse than Fulp in BPort.

Trevor Cosgrove has been the offensive Dman for Worcester.

Otherwise, I'm encouraged by the rookie season Pivonka has had. Probably a career AHL 3rd liner who ventures over to Europe, but if he does find another couple of gears in the coming years, we'd be looking at another MacLean type. Granted, Pivonka is already 24, so there's little room to wiggle upwards.

That’s a low bar, leading this team in points and goals. Not saying much for a team that is at or near the bottom of the AHL in GF.

Before Iskhakov skated with Maggio there were a lot more zeros on the scoresheet for him. When put together for Maggio’s recent heater Iskhakov was getting first assists. But as has been said here already, Iskhakov can’t shake defenders at 5v5. He just doesn’t impact the game enough in the AHL. That should be a measuring stick for NHL prospects in the minor leagues.

I am writing this from Total Mortgage Arena where BPT is currently being shutout by the Utica Comets, 4-0 midway through the 3rd period. A 10:30am school trip game. Only the school kids, 100 or so of us paying customers, and the Comets showed up.

Not saying for certain but I think he's grabbed some points in the 3 on 3 OT as well.

Addendum. Alex Jeffries just scored his 1st AHL goal. Utica leads 4-1 in the 3rd period.

As a slight update, Odelius has now returned from injury and is playing again. However, they've sent him to the U20 team on a rehab assignment.

He has 1 goal and a +2 in this 3 games at the U20 level.

His HockeyAllsvenskan club just kicked off the semifinals in the playoffs with a 3-2 win. The gamewinner came on a solo play by Linus Eriksson, a hot contestant to be among the top 64 picks in this summer's draft.

Who would you place ahead of him? Holmstrom is essentially an every day player so I won't count him. Nelson is too young to figure out and is a ways away. Dufour has taken a step back. I like Maggio, but I think Iskhakov is at the very least, the most ready out of the prospects.

Multiple fans on here who regularly watch Bridgeport don't think he'd do much of anything at the NHL level. I guess management thinks the same thing or he'd be up here.

I actually meant that I wouldn't like it if Ish is our best prospect - more for what it would say about the prospects than about him specifically. But, also, for the same reasons that PK mentioned I also am not so sure he's our best prospect.
