BTW, only a few teams could’ve gotten away with winning this tournament without any insulting memes, and that includes the Lakers. (historic teams with multiple championships or franchises that have recently won the NBA Finals). Had it been a team that has had a super long championship drought like the Knicks or a team that has never even sniffed the NBA Finals like the Clippers, the “the only championship you’ll ever win” memes would’ve been endless.

from what i recall, the league only sent out an 80 game schedule for this season. so the remaining two games were determined by how each team fared in the tournament. every team played two official regular season games this week, but who they played depended on their tournament results

I still don't quite understand the point of this tournament other than its an easy cash grab for the league, which means it's going to be a thing from now on but eventually there's going to need to be new incentives.
