To be honest I think he already was taking swipes, it’s just that now TSN and Sportsnet key in on it.

Even in the game where he blasted the slaposhot, he was getting destroyed with cross checks in front of the net.

Our boi was triggering them in those games lol. Now, they are auto-triggered. Curious to see how much of Greig's game grows as he matures. Love the core, but they desperately need NHL goaltending to make any noise.

Roster Notes:

The NHL parent club in Ottawa did, unfortunately, suffer at least one injury in their game at Nashville on Tuesday night. Forward and Belleville Sens grad Josh Norris left the game against the Predators in the second period and didn’t return. However, there’s no word yet on if or how that might affect the roster here in Belleville. Full lineup details including tonight’s alignment will be available prior to puck drop.

Who to Watch:

While patrolling the blue line, Senators defenceman Jacob Larsson has also been a consistent contributor offensively as well, bringing a three-game point streak (one goal, two assists) into tonight’s game. Larsson has picked up a point in eight of his last 10 games (one goal, seven assists) and has already set new career highs in goals (six), assists (15), and points (21) in a season. Meanwhile, forward Garrett Pilon has points in back-to-back games (one goal, one assist) and has scored in all-but-three games dating back to January 20. He also has seven points (three goals, four assists) in four games against Utica this season.

Comets rookie Chase Stillman has been gaining some spotlight of late, most recently, after notching his first career hat trick in Syracuse last Sunday. The former first-round draft pick to the New Jersey Devils in 2021 (29th overall) has 17 points (10 goals, seven assists) over his first 41 professional games. He also has three points (two goals, one assist) in five games in the season series with Belleville. The son of long-time NHL star Cory Stillman and brother of Rochester Americans defenceman Riley, Stillman won an Ontario Hockey League Championship last season with the Peterborough Petes.

No MacEwen in this one, I imagine he's the next call-up for Norris?
Not necessarily.

Belleville have 8 vets, but you can only dress 6 each game so they're rotating scratches. Tonight was MacEwen and Highmore, but on Saturday Smejkal and Currie sat. The game before that it was Imama and Pilon.

They’re treating it like Peewee houseleague?

Play the best players, rotating scratches is wild at the pro level.

Yeah. Seems very weird to me. You have to think that at least 1-2 of those vets is a little banged up at any given time. Then you gotta think that at least 1-2 are playing their best hockey of the season. Then there have to be some that are struggling and could use a different look from the press box.

Shouldn't be hard to pick 6/8 for any given game.

Roster Notes:

No transactions between Belleville and Ottawa have been announced as of publication time this morning, but there could be some movement through the day, with the NHL Senators suffering some injuries this week and getting set to host the Arizona Coyotes at Canadian Tire Centre tonight. Any moves will be announced via the Senators’ social media feeds (@BellevilleSens). Full lineup details including tonight’s alignment will be available prior to puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Power forward Jiri Smejkal didn’t play on Wednesday against Utica but has points in his last three games (three assists). 6’4’’, 223 pounder from Czechia has four assists in four games against Rochester this season and will look to use his size and skill to create more opportunities for the Senators around the net. Meanwhile, Angus Crookshank (two goals, one assist), Egor Sokolov (two assists), and Max Guenette (one goal, two assists) all have points in back-to-back games.

Buffalo first-rounder Jiri Kulich (28th overall in 2022) has been the hottest Amerk of late, picking up a point in four consecutive games (one goal, three assists), though he’s had some gaps in games played due to a recent injury and NHL recall. Speedster Linus Weissbach has been the best-performing Amerks player against Belleville this season, registering four points (one goal, three assists), in four games so far. Mason Jobst is also on a four-game point streak (three goals, one assist).

At the rink:

The Season Seat Membership renewal window is open for fans to buy or renew their seats for 2024/25. Roster Notes:

After a quiet week or so on the transaction front, the Senators organization has made four moves over the last 24 hours. Goaltenders Mads Sogaard and Leevi Merilainen, along with defenceman Max Guenette and forward Zack MacEwen have all been recalled to the NHL by Ottawa. In a corresponding move, the Bellville Sens recalled goaltender Mark Sinclair from his loan to the Allen Americans (ECHL). Sinclair played one game for Belleville on a professional tryout last season and registered a shutout. Full lineup details including tonight’s alignment will be available prior to puck drop.

Who to Watch:

Angus Crookshank continues to power the Belleville offence and has received some league-wide recognition. The North Vancouver, BC product was named the AHL’s Player of the Month for February yesterday, after recording 14 points in 12 games last month, with a plus-4 rating. He was the only B-Sens player to find the net on Friday night, extending his point streak to three games (three goals, one assist). He also passed Jake Lucchini for sole possession of third place on Belleville’s all-time points list (104). Should he dress tonight, forward Boko Imama will play in his 300th game. He hit a couple of posts on Friday and was one of Belleville’s most engaged players on the forecheck.

Forward Tyson Jost was named the game’s first star last night, scoring a goal and registering three shots on goal for the Amerks. However, he’s not been the most consistent point-getter for Rochester in the past few games. Jiri Kulich extended his point streak to five games with an assist and five shots last night, while Isak Rosen has points in three consecutive games.

At the rink:

It’s Pride Night at CAA Arena so fans can arrive early to check out our LGBTQ+-friendly vendors market around the concourse. Members of Bay of Quinte Pride will be on hand for the ceremonial pick drop as well. The Season Seat Membership renewal window is also open for fans to buy or renew their seats for 2024/25. The early bird window, featuring special benefits, will close on March 31, 2024, and seats that aren’t renewed by April 22, 2024, will be released for public sale. Additionally, this is the last weekend for fans to take advantage of the sale on replica jerseys and customizations, as well as a BOGO 50% sale on all kids and adult t-shirts.
