the tough thing about the Flyers is that the Wings need to make up 4 points on them(3 but they have the tiebreaker like Washington does) and the Flyers still have 2 games against Montreal, 1 against Chicago, and 1 against Columbus left in their remaining games

their other 7 remaining games are against Florida, NYR x2, Islanders, Buffalo, New Jersey, Washington

the Wings pretty much need to hope they lose out in those non bottom feeder games at this point if they want to make it in without going on a 7-4 or better run because if they even just win the 4 bottom feeder games that already means the Wings need to go at least 6-5 to pass them

Washington going 5-4-3 would put them at 92 points which would mean the Wings would need at least 93 to finish ahead of them since they also have the tiebreaker

which would mean going 7-3-1

My point is, let it play out. Detroit still has two games against the caps.

This road trip will determine whether we get in the playoffs or not. We may have to go 2-2-1 or 3-2.
The Isles if they win tonight will only be a point back.

well yeah it's obviously not over yet

but I think it's fair to say that the Flyers and Capitals are both in a notably stronger position than the Wings are at this point

Which, especially for Washington, changes if Detroit beats them in their H2Hs.

Until those happen, I can't go to bat for either team being in a better spot. Detroit is playing great teams coming into the end of the year, yes... but soon some of them are gonna be looking out for themselves and start coasting in to the playoffs, like they do every year.

Flyers are in a notably stronger position because they're 3 points up and the Wings don't have a H2H they can make up ground in.

The Wings lost their stranglehold on a spot with that 7 game tailspin, which sucks, but they're coming back hard down the stretch.

Lindgren their backup goalie is 20-12-5. Kuemper is 13-13-3.
And yet it was Lindgren in net when Detroit put up a snowman on them last month. They're a very Jekyll and Hyde kinda team.

It will be very interesting to see how each team starts the game tomorrow, with both knowing how much is on the line. Lindgren started yesterday, so hopefully the Wings can put Kuemper below .500 on Tuesday.

They will start their best goalie vs us.

If we play like we did against nashville, we will win most of the rest of our games this season. We played a pretty good game, got damn good goaltending and defense, and had a lot of chances to score. Saros >>>>>>>>>>>> like 95% of the goalies out there and he was on one that night.
