Best backup goalie in Avs history.

JS Giguere waves hello - one of my all time favorites - he also had the right mentality and culture (remember this article?):

Over the rainbow
He made it to the NHL, played well enough to earn a roster spot, was an OK 1B at best and a great BackUp at worst, swept the Oilers, went 6-0 in the Playoffs and did his part helping the Avs winning the Stanley Cup two years ago. He will not be forgotten. Thanks Pavel! Enjoy the rest of your life! Cheers mate.

Yeah. Thanks for sweeping the Oilers, Franky! I will never forget that Game 2 in Denver when the Crowd went crazy... Even after the game in the halls you heard "Franky! Franky" Franky""... :hockey:

Such a nice and funny guy. And great teammate.....

Enjoy your life and your cup-ring Buddy! And maybe he can remain with the AVS as a scout.

The sad part is, we never got to see his true potential because every time he seemed to get into some groove he got hurt again. I'm still convinced he had the skill to be a true starter in the NHL. Just never was healthy enough.

But, like you said, he was instrumental in our Cup win and that should always be remembered of his short NHL career.

I'm so glad the Avs were the team that got Frankie. Bummed we never really saw his true potential because of all the injuries.

I'm not a witch doctor, so I'm not really qualified to do goalie rankings. I'll just say this, the Avalanche have a god tier of backups that include: Frankie, Giggy and Budaj.

Frankie - Swept the Oilers in the playofs.
Giggy - Moral compass of team and incredible mentor to a younger Varly.
Budaj - Seriously? Peter Budaj. He has to be on this list. Solid backup (maybe not as talented as the other two) but the team absolutely loved him. Folks always say, so and so is the nicest guy in the NHL. Budaj had Ned f***ing Flanders painted on his helmet. Legend.
