In my final round on the draft sim before the draft here's what I got:

7. David Jiricek, RHD HC Plzen
39. Maveric Lamoureux, RHD Drummondville
64. Dylan James, LW Sioux City
72. Ryan Greene, C Green Bay
87. Jordan Dumais, RW Halifax
136. Petr Hauser, RW HC Sparta
143. Hudson Thornton, LHD Prince George
151. Alex Bump, LW Omaha
168. Angus Booth, LHD Shawinigan
206. Marcel Marcel, LW HC Plzen

I really liked opening up with 2 big RHDs like Jiricek and Lamoureux, could be massive for us in a few years.

Anyone else have hmm anxiety hearing dorion saying theres a 50-50 chance of moving the pick? I just never know what he will do ! Its exciting I guess but we are not close to contending.. I hope he is being wise and not misevaluating where this team is at.

This feels like a stretch to make the stats tell us what the author is selling. Telling us that a few short guys that fell due to bias, out performed those drafted near them is hardly surprising, because there is a bais towards taller/bigger players in the NHL.

I'm sure you could make the same graph with other biases such as Russians or LHD's or C's vs W's. All it tells you is that there are steals to be had based on these biases in later rounds.

I also suspect sample size to further skew these stats.

That said give me Jiricek, Gauthier, Kasper. In that order. Leave the pint size wingers to someone else.

How can you pretend to have a plan if it’s 50/50 you move a 7th overall?

Pronman has said it's been difficult to pin down who the Senators are interested in at 7th overall this season so I wouldn't flip out about anything he throws out there.

Geekie seems like he's too passive/low-motor for Ottawa. They haven't drafted many guys like that recently.

Since Logan Brown and Gagne they have really emphasized compete over frame and finishing ability

We should all be terrified. He has made countless mistakes over the past few years that 99% of GM's would get fired for.

He's approaching the desperation stage of his tenure which is likely when he's going to be most vulnerable to making subpar deals for immediate help.

Dorion isn't moving the pick. His bread and butter is the draft (2021 excluded). He isn't gonna butcher it and doesn't have the guts(nor probably the capacity) to move the pick and make it a positive win for us.

After his interview on TSN1200 I’ll say he packages the 7OA and Formenton for a top 6 player. Which will be a mistake long term.

Heard it here first

If the guy they want is there, then there is no trades, if not he’s open to a trade. That’s how you get 50/50.

Haha. Marco Kasper or Cutter Gauthier is going to determine if Pierre Dorion lands an impact player or not - mmmkay. That’s weak if next seasons success depends on a guy who will be playing in Moose Jaw next year

Could be one of those 2 or 1 of the 2D if available.
Ok so you’re 100% on moving pick then, no matter who the player is the pick gets moved for lol. Ya that’s smart.
I was just explaining the 50/50 part as it seemed hard for you to grasp, , also maybe he hopes a team ups their offer, if they don’t, then he drafts.

I don’t think it’s based on a junior players availability, I think it’s based on a pro players ability. That’s how we differ

And he’s dealing from a position of weakness so actually drafting at 7OA would be seen as a failure based on Dorion’s comments of shopping it, so again he’s done horrible work setting expectations

Better be a home run trade because the fans now have expectations of big things happening

Yes, I'm anxious that he will attempt a trade with the pick... I'd rather him just make the selection because he's somewhat good at that.

I think this discussion merits a devil's advocate — if we accept that he's a good scout, and his perception is that the value in a trade would be stronger than the value in making the pick... does his opinion on the weakness of the draft lose any weight? I can accept that his pro scouting is bad, but surely he can do a simple cost-benefit analysis on draft day.

My feeling is that he’ll end up trading the pick. Doesnt take Einstein I know but what I am feeling.

The more and more time goes by I am also feeling Dorion isnt the guy to get us to the promised land. Doesnt take Einstein either. I really hope it’s do or die for him this summer, its time to take the next step even the players freaking asked for it. Thing is he isnt very good at trades nor is our pro scouting.

Buckle up

What if the board brought in Bowness mainly to facilitate this trade. they know that Dorion can't handle it so they bring in a specialist.

so the trade is in full Bowness hand.

It's interesting how in Mann's interview today he said they liked 2 goalies in 2019, and when one went they moved up to grab Sogaard. The only goalie drafted ahead of Sogaard was Pyotr Kochetkov, a Russian.

Maybe this anti-Russian bias we feel the Sens have isn't as prominent as we thought if we were ready to draft Kochetkov.

Dreger just said the pick is more than likely being traded.

Fan: “I want him to trade the pick for a good player”

News: “the pick is most likely in play”

Fan: “haha, Morion is so desperate!”

Round and round we go!

Hehehe, we’re so excited for tomorrow :)

Tkachuk and the boys told Dorion they want help now. Dorion is going to try to get that help for better or worse, I think they will end up trading the pick. Hope he exercise restraint if there’s no deal to be had.

He is because that pick isn't going to be around if (when) he gets fired for failing another year.
